bookworm21 - sorry, you're having issues with this. As soon as you land on the world that she is on, you should see story content appearing. I'll try a new captain, see if that makes a difference EDIT: Tried a new captain, didn't trigger anything. This one was also using the nomad template, but this time on the default map. I'll try again with a custom template

I'll try again with a custom template Ditto for me. Have a Spice Trader and Retired Explorer as contacts. Neither trigger a story-mode. iOS as well.

So, found the contact earlier in the game (and did quite a bit of Missions to break into the Mok clan to get trading permits; but no story mode. Started a new game using default NOMAD template, jumped directly to her. Again, no story mode. Both games were on iPad. I'll try later on Mac or Android to see if I get anything different. Pic below:

Sorry it isn't working for everyone. We'll keep trying to figure it out and put out an update soon.

OK - I have been able to confirm this is not working in the alpha build. Not sure why, will figure it out. Something in there still refuses to run story outside of the dev build.
Next update then!

I get the retired explorer story line. Mier De Rivesh and Captain Gus Kahern. But when I get to the point where I've talked to both and Mier gives me the mission, I get back to Mier's "Interactions" screen, and as soon as I leave it, I get my home screen with a popup saying that ST2 has stopped and asking if I want to restat it. I've tried several times, and it does it every time.
This is on android, on a Nexus 5X.

khearn - thanks for testing and sorry that you've hit this bug. Hopefully a crash report will show up on Android at some point, none have appeared yet. If you could try restarting the game at some point when you're on WIFI that might do it.

I'm on wifi now, and just triggered it again. My game is at the point where all I have to do is land, hit contacts, select Mier, select "We are here to discuss...", select "We can help you reclaim...", tap through it (or skip all), whi ch gets me bak to Mier's interactions page, and then leave it and get the crash. Takes longer to describe it than it does to do it. I just hot it three times in a row, while on wifi the whole time, so if it's going to send a report, it should have done so. Let me know if there's anything else I can do.

khearn - it sounds like there are some really important details in there that could help us troubleshoot. What is the exact text of the story prompt you're tapping on? What is the first dialog of the dialog you are skipping?

Confirming on Mac that story mode did NOT trigger with Retired Explorer Jensaje Hyvnit nor Spice Trader Tuemette.

Ok, very odd. We'll get this worked out for next release. Confused why its some platforms and not others.

I installed STF .23 on my cheap 64-bit Windows 10 tablet, and it doesn't work. Two DLLs missing. When I added them by installing Visual C++, I got another error: 0xc000007b. Apparently, that's a problem when 32-bit programs try to use 64-bit DLLs.
I haven't yet tried STF .25 on that tablet.

STF, and all of our games, very specifically Requires MS Visual Studio C++ Runtime 2012 x86. Has to be the x86 version.
Luckily, Steam will install this for you normally. When it comes to HA, you do have to do it yourself, or maybe install one of our games off Steam first.

I installed it ( Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 Update 4, x86). Still failed to run. Maybe because I installed the x64 version before. Wait, now it does. The installer told me it was done; it didn't tell me I had to restart. I should have guessed. I finally did.

Definitely caused by VC++ runtime issues. Try uninstalling both and reinstalling x86 perhaps. This is one of the most annoying windows loops ever.
