On another matter. This...is probably a shot in the dark, but i tried to play Age of Pirates a while ago. Im more of a sci fi fellow, so i gave up, but still. Could it be the Age of Pirates takes place within the same universe as Star Traders? The history of the human race is lost, or distorted. What if Age of Pirates takes place Shalun knows how many millenia ago, in the primitive years of human civilization of their forsaken homeworld. Or...am i just overthinking?

I have to stop by this thread and throw a wrench in the gears of the TB's, for fun of course , but also point out how damn good they are with story telling. If you play CK, there are many easter eggs and nods to the ST universe in it. In the beginning, they didn't really say one way or another that the two games were separate. They would tease and say no, but someone would find something in CK and go 'what about this'. They would respond it's just a coincidence and the round about continued. A well known forum member even created one of the best fan fictions that tied the two games together in a very believable way. As the ST universe grew with more games coming out set in it, they have officially declared that the two games are set in different worlds. However, they could if they chose, reverse that based on one very important plot point of the ST universe they have mentioned all these years. So much of human history is lost because of the great war and exodus, no one knows for sure where humans came from. This is a great story plot point because it gives them the perfect 'get out of jail free card' when it come to telling the story of the ST universe. From a writing standpoint, it's a very believable way of explaining something off without it being a BS copout. Maybe Earth does exist, but no one knows because that was a half million years ago many galaxies away. The ships that had records could have been lost in travel due to any number of reasons. Did they plan it this way, or is it just one of those happy writing coincidences that came on its own. Only the TB's know for sure and they do love to tease their fans. I love the way they're going with the games. Would it be cool to say they're all set in the same world, sure, but them being their own worlds are just as great and fun.

Maybe it's for the best, i guess that way it leaves more doors open to explore in new games. It's fun to dream, though.
