Im trying to piece together all the information i know about the ST universe to get a better understanding of it, so, please correct me if any of what i say is incorrect.
So it stars over 250 thousand years ago in the region of the galaxy known as the Galactic Core, with a war between 2 ancient civilizations: Xarth and Alfaan. This wwar led to their mutual anihilation. They may or may not have created the Narvidians, a machine based collection of Hive Minds.
Meanwhile, Humanity arose in an unknown world somewhere in the Core, of which there are no surviving records. Humanity quickly ascended into space travel and drifter through interstellar space at a slow rate until the establishment of the first 2 stellar conglomerates: the Star Traders Union and the Planetary Guild. These 2 entities sturggled for power and influence, against each other and within. Under these 2 nations, Humanity reached its highest technological point. During this time, the ethnic group known today as Zendu took shape. Capable of passing their memories to the next generation, carved into their genetics.
While exploring space, the Star Traders came across the Xeno: a collection of fast spreading plantoid/fungoid species. These ancient creatures, while non sentient, were capable of infesting entire worlds and engineering spacecraft.
Eventually, the Planetary Guild encountered a Narvidian cache, containing, among other things, the key to FTL communications. Information, being as much of a critical resource as it was, now was passed through (hyperspace?) technology that replaced the courier network. The news that would take months to be delivered by a courier across interstellar space now took days to reach its destination. The Planetary Guild gained a huge edge over the Union. The cache also contained the knowledge to assemble the Void Reactors: the standart interstellar propulsion still used by the Star Traders today.
It was, however, the key do their downfall. The Narvidians, who hid in Deep Space for centuries, took action. They were the masters of that technology (whether they created it or it was passed to them by the ancient civilizations, i do not know). They hijacked the FTL network, capable of masquerading as anyone. They took over the Guild's leadership from within. With the Guild's resources at their mercy, they enslaved the Star Traders. During this dark time, the Narvidians experimented with the several different Xeno species, increasing their agressiveness.
Exiled to the ice world of Mal Direx, the Zendu, as all Star Traders, were enslaved. The Templar Order, whose exact genesis is unknown, surged as a rebellion against the Guild and their Narvidian overlords. Their forces could not engage the Guild directly, however.
From a destitute refugee mining family, he who the Star Traders would call the prophet was born. Ardok Shalun. A born leader and tactical mastermind, he would grow to join the Templar Order and introduce them to the Leviathan Mech. Created to be used in mining operations under extreme pressure and temperature conditions of gas giants, the Mechs were modified for war, giving the Templar an edge against the Guild.
The Faction Accords was a rebellious gathering of several Star Trader representatives who whised to break free from the Narvidians. Their origins going back way before the enslavement of the Star Traders Union, in which several different bloodlines, companies, and other groups were given the title of Faction: a stellar nation with its own backstory and traditions. It was this meeting that led to the Great Construction, the start of the Galactic War.
He fighting was bloody and brutal, with devastating casualties to both sides. And most importantly, to the Core. Its worlds became ruins, uncapable of sustaining the already dying population of the Star Traders. Shalun took action, and using the Star Forges, the massive orbital shipyard first built by the master shipwrights of Clan Alta Mesa, the remnants of the Union built the Colony Hives: vast colonization vessels carrying tens of thousands of souls each.
The Farfallen Breach was a gravitational zone discovered by the Templar scouts, that would serve as a jumping point for the fleet. It is said that only hours before departure, Shalun hand picked a battleforce from among his most trusted warriors to go on a mission to a distant star.
There was, however, one final blow from the Narvidians and the Guild: the battle at the Farfallen Breach. It was a tough fight, but the Fleet managed to survive and departure. Despite that, the convoys and Hives took the gravity jump at different times and out of order from the original plan. Many Hives must have been most but, most importantly, countless were separated from the main fleet.
The Main fleet reached a quadrant known as the Farfallen Rim after 100 years of travel. Millions, if not billions, were left behind: splintered from the fleet or unable to keep pace. For these troubled souls, separated from the Templar Fleet, the Great Exodus ended in the cold hostile space they managed to settle.
From the Factions, only a few had the endurace to survive. The companies that took interest during the Great Construction became the Syndicates: De Valtos, Cadar and Rychart, and the bloodlines of several powerful groups established the Great Houses: Thulun, Javat and Steel Song, and the Great Clans: Moklumnue, Alta Mesa and Zenrin.
