Nice article on adroidauthority.com about Google's three tiered Android Smartphone strategy. www.androidauthority.com/nexus-pixel-android-one-android-go-814276/1) Pixel provides expensive, flagship phones that demonstrate the full potential of Android. 2) Android One is the middle tier, "affordable hardware with Google’s preferred approach to Android onboard." Android One has made its way to the US for the first time with recent high-profile releases from Xiaomi, Motorola and HTC, 3) Android Go is entry level. "Android Go was unveiled during Google I/O earlier this year... It’s a super lightweight version of the OS designed for entry-level devices running 1 GB of RAM or less. With a 2018 launch." If Android One and Go provide timely, "guaranteed updates and security patches on Google-approved hardware and software" then those brands will provide real value and could well succeed. Given how changeable Google has been in this space, it'll be interesting to see if the stick to the strategy.

I actually hope that GO will be as lightweight as they say and will be fully pledged Android and not some html5 runner... If GO will be such and if it will be optimized properly I'll be porting it to all devices I own as android currently is too power consuming even on power saver modes and there is no real reason for that.
