I thought it might get political, I didn't think religion would come up. Sorry.
Let's try to get back to fiction... is there any actual shalun law that you've created already or is it just a vague concept? Is this covered on the ST side? I've never been there.

First up - Why would the cat make war on the dog. That's just crazy talk. Everyone knows that cats are gods in unto themselves and as such, typically get their followers/disciples to carry out any acts of aggression. You often hear about them ... the classic "Cat Lady" springs to mind.
Second ... I grew up loving dogs (and therefore hating cats), but in recent years, have found a place for both and feel harmonious.
Third ... in this forum, Cats and Dogs are much better subjects than religion so let's stick to discussing the best ways to kill aliens, pick up in spice halls, or discover fortunes during harvests or explorations.

As for Islam, I think it is one of the most misunderstood (and at the same time, most exploited by warmongering tyrants) religion in the world. Their views on armed confrontation is similar to that of Sikhism, actually. And yes, we will use Cats Vs. Dogs as an analogy instead. Or Ninjas Vs. Pirates. Which is quite similar to Cats Vs. Dogs if you think about it. Also, I think it's high time we compile a list of known Shalun Laws (which we have seen binding the contracts & interactions-hostile or otherwise-between all factions and independant planets) from the game and what Cory has told us here on the forum. From what I gathered, this law seems to come from a pen & paper RPG campaign he ran some time ago. Once we have the laws, I propose a new player class...
The Shalun Lawyer!Abilities:
1) +10% Credits offered for Contracts
2) 50% chance to negate any Rep loss for botched Contracts

I saw that program that compared Ninjas to Spartans. They said Spartans would have won because they have more effective armor and weapons. However, they neglected to take into account that Ninjas avoid direct confrontation and prefer stealthy kills. Ah well, who believes TV anyway.

Definitely wore armour. Haven't you heard 'come back with your shield or on it?'  Whether Spartan women really said this to their sons, or Plutarch a) made it up or b) was fooled by what we call an 'urban legend' these days is debatable, but they definitely had shields. see: www.mlahanas.de/Greeks/war/Armor.htm for a picture of what a hoplite would be wearing. |

Ninjas are not all that,if you read comic books you'd know from "The Tick"
Nnjas are more afraid of you than you are of them.
If you watched cartoons you'd know from "Venture Brothers" that they are pretty easy to kill.
If you played video games like "Hitman" that ninjas are silly telling everybody around through radio signal to "be on the lookout for a suspicious looking ninja"
Still cool though. ;D
