Does anyone play a pirate captain main? In my opinion the traits offered by this choice are inferior to other main jobs(especially the dead aim one). BH, Zealot, MO are my choices if I want a pirate type.
Little background info: yes, I do play almost exclusively pirate types and I wouldn't play a pirate main as is now. I see the pirate archetype as someone who belongs in space combat => so CMD, QM , Zealot, BH and MO are the way to go(I'm looking to get max CMD and INT here hence these options).
Cheers.

I play Pirate captain quite often, and I'm agreeing totally concerning the starting traits. Why do I take Pirate anyway? Cause I want Meneacing Demeanor as soon as possible.
But you make me think of taking a Military Officer who levels as a Pirate immediately.

My aim is to build the most optimal squad for Impossible difficulty for space combat and crew combat. I fail to see the usefulness of Dead Aim(from my experience this trait works only in crew combat) except in a very dedicated build +crit crew combat(insert there some Spy to increase +crit further). But this has very limited synergy as pirates are best used for space combat. From your reply I understand that the main reason you play pirate main is to get to Menacing Demeanor ASAP (=> achievable fastest @ captain lvl 8 with all ranks spent in Pirate). I prefer to delay this by 1 rank (officer lvl 9) and get my starting QM (1QM/8Pirate with 3rd job either CMD or Zealot => maximizing CMD +INT which provide greater synergy with Pirate/CMD/Zealot talents). Regarding Terrifying(+10% credits when blockading) it's okish because your starting crew will have more chances to get the same trait (the credit gains are not that great in my opinion there are better ways to make money in this game), but for an impossible run I would never want this trait over the ones that MO provides(for you the captain and your crew see '''Strict" section of traits >>> Driven is too good to pass).

You're not the first to beat this horse. I think a revision to Pirate starting traits is in the works. They just haven't gotten to it yet.

@contributor - It was not my intent to beat anyone's horse , I'm glad to find out that this is a known issue.

Are you sure about the chances for the crew to get the same traits as the captain? My pirate captain on impossible is Level 24 now. After more than 40 years in the void, none of her crew (many of them members from the start of the game) has developed Terrifying or Dead Aim Traits. Aren't those Captain only?

No, at this time the Traits are not Captain-only. We are working on adding unique Traits in the future.

my bad Terrifying is Captain only trait. Usually mini card games activities come with a helper trait (which apparently for Blockade doesn't exist... yet). But this further proves my point

I hope you have tweaked the starting Pirate template. It will not get the solution you seek. I play my BH like pirates too. In fact, My second job with a BH is usually Pirate.
