I'm curious about whether you guys have a general preference for turn based or real time games. I usually prefer real time games because the pressure of having to act quickly makes it more tense. I suspect turn based will win the poll because TB games.

Both have their magic. Because yes, real time needs you to act quickly, but often has exploitable speed strategies (for example I cleared 14 missions out of 20 in Stronghold crusader extreme, a game considered to be very difficult, by rushing).

I like both.
I love RTS games like Total War, the Dawn of War series, Hearts of Iron, and Company of Heroes.
I love turn based strategy like Fire Emblem, Advance Wars, World Conqueror, etc.
Turn based RPGs like STF (obviously), Final Fantasy, Metal Saga, etc.
I have no preference.

Turn based for me. My reflexes are too slow for real time! It's also much easier to start and stop playing turn based games if you need to do other things at the same time. I'll play HoS while I'm cooking, for example.

I'm on steam, yeah, but I don't have it on my account. I play it on my brother's computer/account.

Tell my brother to actually get on his email and accept the request I sent him a month ago.
Somehow, tell him.

Turn based. I don't have enough marital capital to routinely block out uninterrupted chunks of time to play video-games. Being able to go AFK at the drop of a hat is a must.

My favourite would probably be "simultaneous 'we-go' turn based", where all players have to write down plans for the following turn and they all execute simultaneously.
"Frozen Synapse" is an excellent example of this approach

I'm changing my answer from real time to no preference since I've been playing XCOM: Enemy Unknown recently. Before playing XCOM, TB games were the exception to my impression that real time games were generally more interesting, but now I've realized there are more excellent turn based games than TB games.
