The rebalance sees Fortify Position gain a few more buff effects, drop to 2 AP, but also include a -1 MP property. I think it balances out very well and very compelling, but further empowers its turtle style!

This'll be make camping even more fun. All my defensive engineers are getting this

Fortify Position has a huge advantage I missed earlier: it can be used while overheated! About half-way through most maps, my engineers cannot use Power Field due to overheating. FP would still be usable.
Unfortunately, it isn't as helpful with Flame Tank Engineers as I am missing OW from Sentry Turrets, which can hold positions better than Flame Turrets. Also, I'm currently playing a no OW challenge, which further makes turtling up very difficult. I'm looking forward to my next playthrough where I can make use of this newly powered talent.

Also do note that max rallying charge and max fortify position work really well together. They offset eachother biggest drawback : -armor and -mp (-dodge isn't a biggy, this ain't no HoS!) while providing a BIG damage boost and still +1mp. Paired with paladin's battle enhancer it's my go to go "gonna hurt" team comp.
Lastly Pyroginer works well with fortify position because of their +20% crit from the relic flamer.
