Multiple times I accidentaly dropped a grenade right before the Templar's own feet. Surprise: no damage done (actually a good thing).
But, I think it should not be possible to drop a grenade right next to the Templar who is using it. At least not, if the "target" tile is empty or another Templar is on that tile. So, the only situation when this should be possible is when an enemy unit is on the target tile.
And isn't there something wrong with grenades in BF, generally? A grenade wil do damage to ANY unit or thing that is within the area of effect of the grenade. No matter, if it is an enemy or friendly/nutral unit
or whatever thing.
So, here is how I would like grenades to be handled by the game:
1. Players should not be allowed to drop a grenade on a tile right next to the Templar using the grenade, if there is not an enemy unit on the target tile. This will help to prevent accidentally dropping a grenade on a wrong tile and also will help to prevent wasting a grenade and action point.
2. Grenades should always do damage to whatever is in the area of effect, no matter if it's an enemy unit, a friendly/neutral unit or whatever thing else.
3. Players should be warned, if they are trying to throw a grenade and a friendly/neutral unit will/might be effected (take damage). As there might be situations when you want to do this, no matter if friendly units will be affected or not, the best way to handle this would be to ask the player, if he really wants to proceed with that action.
4. Similar to #3, trying to throw a grenade that will NOT effect any unit/thing, should result in a warning.
5. To not bother players who don't care about these situations, it would be helpful to make warnings an option in game settings (e. g. a group of settings called "paranoia options").
Btw: the game doesen't allow to shoot at another Templer, and that's just allright.
Any toughts?
