Now I have only been playing for a few days but I have managed to at least get over 200 xp on my main guy by doing nothing but los val missions, and only the ones against yakuza, because before this last update I was able to accept and decline until I got the mission I wanted. My heat was only up in yakuza territory and all the other zones were fine. Since the update my heat is maxed in every zone I go to, even ones owned by factions that should be unaffected since I have only done missions effecting yakuza and los val. Staying in hotels and jumping around zones evading and escaping are doing nothing.

Sleeping in hotels does reduce your heat, but I am finding I need to sleep in 2 or 3 different ones in a row. I'm playing on 'crazy', by the way, and wonder if this is one of the ways 'crazy' is harder than 'hard' or 'normal'.
If you have significant good rep with a faction, the heat doesn't show up -- or as much -- there. Try being nice to somebody else other than Los V.

Welcome to my nightmare... If I even fart that has a different smell my heat shoots through the roof.
Only thing I can suggested isnt to stop shooting punks, either escaped more often or get some stunner gloves and knock them out. The corps and gangs tend to be less upset if their goons return in another way than a body bag.
Also read your contract more carefully, just because you are going to yakuza territory doesnt mean your not working against another faction.

When heat goes up in one zone,it goes up in all of them.
Only lowerd by any positive rep you have with the faction who's zone your in.
Heat will never get much lower than the neg rep you have for the faction who's zone your in.
The higher your heat is the longer it will take to drop.
As Gravling said you will have to rest 3-4 times to get rid of it and all those times you rest will have to be in different safehouses/hotels.
Note that all that extra resting will also lower your neg reps as well as your positive ones.

Also, having spy attacks burn you generates tons of Heat, even in neighbourhoods where you have a positive rep.

As we know that animals in heat requires sexual activities to remove it, we need prostitutes.

Joy girls are supposed to provide that service, but all that happens is you drill them for local info...rather than just drilling them. ;D

I have never had trouble with too much heat. That just brings me new bad guys to kill in neighborhoods I don't like, and XP for escaping combat in neighborhoods I do like.

Seryin Hunter - you certainly at this point must have negative rep with the Yakuza and positive rep with the Los V. Each point of negative or positive rep has a direct affect on your Heat. Therefore, you will always have high heat in enemy territory (Yak) and no heat in a high rep friendly territory (Los V). Heat, as the measure of how much negative attention you have gathered and not shaken, comes and goes as you stay in hotels, do jobs, kill people, and traipse across the city. Doing violent jobs or killing thugs is the best way to get it off the charts, which can make the rest of your day a living hell. As suggested here, try sleeping in a few different hotels until it dissipates. Basically, lay low for a while, and then be more careful next time you go on a rampage. Try stunning some thugs instead of killing them, or running away from fights you don't need.

You can accept and then cancel missions you do not want. THIS definitely no longer works. No matter what way or how many times I try, I always get the same mission everytime until I finish/complete the one they are currently trying to give me. As for the heat issue, it seems back to normal after two days of evading, escaping, and hotel hoping. I seriously feel like what I experienced wasn't normal but it seems normal now. However, the mission accept/decline thing no longer lets me receive a different mission.

Then ask for new missions.

There should be repercussions for doing that.
I mean, IRL, that just pisses people off to no end, won't it?
BTW, I KNEW sleeping around brings down heat. ;D

Well, in real life, you would be able to ask for 'only interested in package delivery' or 'as long as it's not in Mars Corp territory' or the like. The game would stop being a lot of fun if you couldn't plan your missions.
