Greetings!
My question is about Templar Battleforce and Star Traders: 4X Empires namely. Are their Steam-versions DRM-free? More precisely, are they Steam-free, i.e. can I use Steam client for downloading only, and then play 'em on my old-school gaming PC with WinXP, no Steam installed and even no Internet connection?

They are normal Steam games.

It's a pity really, I don't like Steam obtrusive client DRM at all, and its obligatory (in most cases) Net connection too.
Is there any option to get these games DRM-free?

You can download Templar Battleforce or Star Traders: Frontiers from the Microsoft Windows Store. That does not require the Steam client -- www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/p/templar-battleforce/9nq62nbzkvnl

It requires Win10, alas. Are there some more covenient DRM-free stores, as GOG or Itch, in future plans maybe?

If i recall correctly there is a way to play games from steam without the client turning on. So in theory it's drm free. But let me check and i'll get back to you on that nyktouros

That requires the Steam client to be installed and logged in. I think the OP is looking for a solution that doesn't use Steam at all. Like my brother said, we are an army of two ... we have to focus our efforts ... and listen to our customers. I don't remember too many people asking about GoG in the past year, but we will keep our options open if it looks like a good way to reach our customers.

Templar Battle Force and ST4X play really well on Android/Apple/Amazon Tablets, no internet connection required. You can pick up an Amazon Fire for cheap.

Hi there
I know I'm resurrecting a long dead thread, but I just wanted to add that I was also looking for a way to buy Trese Brothers games for PC without needing Steam. The reason for this is that the modest system requirements of their games mean they are ideal for installing on my work laptop for the evenings when I'm out of town on work, but I'm not allowed to install the Steam client or our IT department will have a fit.
I would love to be able to buy the games from GOG were they available there, but I only discovered that they can be bought from the Microsoft Store when I visited this thread now, and that will be the best option if GOG distribution is not possible, as all our company laptops run Windows 10.

The usual way to skin this particular cat is to copy your installed steam client on a memory stick. Install your games there, too. Plug the stick in when you want to play and never tell the IT department. www.corsair.com/ww/es/blog/steam-to-go-and-a-large-usb-flash-drive Has steam done something since I last tried this as makes this not work?

Great suggestion grävling! None of our existing games will be coming to GOG.

but the post from Gman, where he mentions the long deadness of the thread, is only 6 hours old as I type this. And I wrote the 'stick your steam on flash drive' suggestion for him, because while I was consulting this was what I did, and worked fine for me. But I have been out of all things for 3 years now, and just getting back....
