Waiting for the sequel port, I picked this game up again. Bad move .
I'm mostly getting the hang of it, again, but one thing is bothering me (not Steel Song pirates or Xeno). What is the best way to avoid large numbers of landing encounters, other than small ships? On hard, getting so many of them, when I'm trying to get WF after some damage, can be the end of my captain. That, or add up to expiring contracts, over a few starports.
On demanding, with all my ships having a natural EHr of 2 or more, and also getting Ancient Reactors, ships with hulls above 12 are getting many landing encounters often 5 or more per successful landing, while 10-12 hull ships are only getting occasional ones, going a few stops per encounter.
Lower EHr did not improve things. I took no upgrades that mention penalties to encounters. Cargo is identical, aside from WF amounts, with no artifacts. Guns and torps, if that matters, vary wildly, but don't seem to have any effect. I have not found a pilot officer.
Aside from the pilot officer, are there any tricks to reducing landing encounters with larger hulls, to keep those sweet big cargo holds?

For this one, tactics about at level, pilot around 150% (right now, pilot 22, stealth 15, and tactics 15 at level 15, year 207AE, with some spare XP). But, normally, I try to keep pilot higher. I over-invested in stealth, to see how much it would help (not enough that I notice it).
Hmmm... well consider where you are trying to land is also a factor in the chances of encountering a ship. I know that Urban zones with higher Security stat have more encounters with military/BH ships. Reputation might be a factor as well.
