dagger, yeah it is good to compare how the little differences in our groups will pan out. I have to say mine was helped significantly by getting E3 equips pretty early and also a little foray into the crypts that got everyone some pretty good armor. I decided to let Vlotgar live so I missed out on his reward which would have been a major boost to Vraes. I survived Talia and the Krete attack on the way to the Druid. They were actually both more manageable than I expected and afterwards I was able to switch Vraes back over to his 2h Spear. Against cultists and Krete he still gets more than a few "0"s. At this point even my Tam and KJ are pretty tanky. They're each sporting 86 armor, buffed, and Tam's dodge is pretty good. So as long as she isn't on the front lines she's never been a concern. KJ got in range of a some Krete archers in the ambush and was probably 2-3 hits from dying once. The next turn Fyona was able to wrecktify the situation, taking out 3 archers in a single turn. So I still need to be careful with him. As long as I don't pull any bone-head moves, we've passed all the big tests in E2 now. I've just got to clean up a few remaining levels, which can still be pretty dangerous when enemies hit level 35.

Despite doing my best to pull a bonehead move I managed to complete E2 with this group. I think it's only the second team I've ever gotten into E3 without dying, so that says something about their survivability. I had revealed this shaman at the last minute when everybody had low AP. Since I couldn't strip his AP I decided to move Vraes up to block him and big V got totally surrounded and almost all those Ratkin had full AP. I think he was down in the one hundreds for HP after that turn. Thankfully Tam and Fyona pretty much decimated that whole group on the next turn.

That is a lot of 3 AP attacks to soak!
That is the kind of turn where I hold my breath the whole time lol.

Biggest nail biter for me in that screenshot: does that Bowrat 2 spaces south of Vraes shoot Kjartan and insta kill him...
Edit: I see how late in the turn it is and now realize that the bowrat probably moved there and couldn’t shoot. Still impressive, I don’t think I have ever had a tank that could survive 3 shots from a Shaman in late episode 2. That has to be about 1200 raw damage, plus whatever those veterans are doing. How much armour does your Vraes have?

Yeah, I really botched that one by moving up without adequate scouting. By the time I saw the shaman I couldn't get Kj out of range. You're right about the archer moving up. Maybe both of them did, I can't remember. Vraes was sitting at 186 armor with a ton of resistance too so the shaman alone wasn't too worrying, but when all the Veterans moved in, I was very worried. Most everyone was hitting below 200 though and Vraes has about 1500 HP now. He's not parrying crap though, so he pretty much took it all on his very big chin. I think Kj could survive one bowrat too. He was at 86 armor himself (94 now) and was close to 700 hp.

That's an ironman build if I've ever seen one. Lots of mighty chins required I just had a scare this morning, early game at the North Fort. Selen got surrounded by 3 ratkin who came out of the dark without debuffs. They all hit, all attacks ... so close to end of run. I am holding Talent points for her to get QSD ... I cannot wait.

fallen how did Selen survive that? Warriors are hitting for 50-80 a pop there and that is 9 hits (I guess maybe a bit less because they could have used some in the movement).

That's awesome! I don't have quite that big of balls to run Vraes around with the two-hander. I'm definitely all in on the shield. I'm pretty sure you're probably having more fun than I will be at that point in the game but....I'm just trying to make sure I actually get there. Phalanx, Cortias, Stoneskin, Righteous Fervor, and probably a decent amount of Pureflame should all be in play by that point for me so I'm hoping I don't have quite the risk you seem to have. I'm kind of thinking my biggest concern is going to be SP with battles probably lasting longer than I want them to. We'll see though. Crafting really helps a lot of that.....

fallen how did Selen survive that? Warriors are hitting for 50-80 a pop there and that is 9 hits (I guess maybe a bit less because they could have used some in the movement). Well, she is wearing all +Armor gear and every Attribute point has been put into Constitution. She has 301 HP, 9 Toughness and 16 Armor. So, some of the hits were sub 50 and she just squeaked by. For her, most rats are hitting at 50 atm, but still 3 x 3 hits is going to kill her. Huh, some of them must have missed her or been burnt on movement. I guess I was just blacking out from "oh god not my Ironman run!" I think it was 6 hits in total ... like 22 HP or something. Its a blur. I'm aliiiiiiive! Quicksilver Defense can't come soon enough. Lol, when I get there, I bet it won't solve my problems lol. Melee-only is tough.

Finally got to Brunehorn. Time to do some crafting. Vraes and Fyona need to upgrade damage so I crafted the Pit Spear for Vraes (33-57, 5 Acc, 6 Parry, +14 Fire, +10 Earth, 4% Crit, 4% SP drain). That'll help that. And I crafted the Infantry Hammer for Fyona (43-72, 4 Acc, 3 Parry, +80 HP, +10 Holy, +14 Lightning, 3% Crit, +16% Crit dmg) Also very helpful. I also upgraded both of their shields. I probably could have waited but....the SP shield will really help Vraes go a little longer between camping and the extra HP and dodge for Fyona will help her continue to be a strong off-tank. Defender Shields Vraes: 8 Parry, 140 SP, 10 All-resists, +8% SP drain. Fyona: 8 Parry, 320 HP, 2% Crit, +5 Dodge. They both also have 5% auto-block. That never hurts. Like I said, I probably could have waited until I can get my hands on the Knight's Shield but...I've got quite a ways to go before I get there so....down to one Bloodstone so it will be a while before I craft again.

My version of this team took down T-saw and kept her fancy pearls. I always feel pretty guilty doing that, especially when we go back to Granthorn and say we did everything we could... We're killing Orcin for the Storm Brothers now and what a 180? These ones can hardly scratch this team. With 208 armor, most javelineers are hitting big "0"s on Vraes and sometimes on Fyona too. Orcin hit them once in a blue moon. It's just a matter of churning through them all. I'm just really hoping Vraes finds some epic spear here to make him more fun. I really need to start getting into crit building. We've totally maxed out all the defensive buffs now. We've just got to see how long we can keep Vraes going with a 2h spear.

The impenetrable foundation has been built. Now time to start adding the cannons!

The difference between late E2 Orcin and the ones in the Storm Brothers quest is huge. I did both boss fights without needing a single heal. I did have KJ drink one team heal in the Wolf Lord fight because I had him end a turn next to a Berserk and he got hit for like 85 damage. He had been getting sniped by archers too and so he was missing about a quarter of his health. It wasn't really necessary, but he had an AP to spare and I decided to be on the safe side.
