Just purchased the Elite version. Cool game. Desperately needs more of an FAQ. (I guess that will build over time though won't it)
So allow me to help get the ball rolling. :-)

1 - I've purchased both upgraded Swords and Rifles for each of my troops. Why can't I arm them with one of each? I just get the message 'too many items'

2 - Can I rename my troopers from the default?

To change gear, you first have to touch the weapon the templar already has to unequip it, then go into "carried" and select the new weapon. Armor is a little different because there isn't a "no armor" option so standard armor will always be equipped unless you select another type of armor from "carried", then it will switch the armor.

No renames yet. That was the first thing I asked about too

hmmm. I purchased a Long Leviathan and Null Blade for each of my squad.
Captian Vega is the only one who I can equip with both.
I unequip my other units down to just having Leviathan Gauntlets. I can then equip a gun or blade but not both.
do I need to level up any particular skills to enable dual weapon equipment or is this a bug?

not a bug, that's the rules. more trooper types coming soon. see other forum posts

Soldiers are simply limited in the types and count of weapons they can carry. Some additional limitations for scouts (not being able to use Heavy Leviathans) are incoming. As well as, more trooper types and more weapon types.

honestly, i didn't think the Captain would be able to use the Long Lav, but if that is the case that might be a bug

Swords and rifles (leviathan, heavy levi, long levi) are primary weapons and you can't have two of them at once. If you can get a sword and a long levi, its a glitch so enjoy it. The light leviathan "pistol" your captain starts with is currently the only secondary weapon you can equip in your other hand along with a sword or rifle as primary. You can't buy another light levi at the armory as of now.
