That said, I also easily accepted that Rabiels way of thought would ignore the option that a simple prayer could open the temple, simply because he himself would have secured it with some extremely complicated or well hidden lock.
Also, that the prayer in question was a prayer to all 13 Gods, not just to Rabiel.

Don't have to even read fantasy novels to get a feel for how the Gods of Steel function. Look at earth's own ancient religions such as the Greek/Roman gods, the old germanic(norse) gods etc. Majority of those gods where very "human" in regards to what they actually knew and how they acted. Even the leaders of those pantheons had severe limits and gaps in their knowledge.
Part of what made the Judaic (Judaism, Christianity and Islam) religions different from almost every other religion was the belief in a Single Omnipotent (all knowing all powerful) Deity.
