One pro-tip: On the first round of combat, take note of your foe's hostility. If it is -1 or 0 or positive, they will not fire on you on the first round.
This means:
For a merchant or smuggler, consider using a talent to help you keep them from escaping (such as Sharp Steering or one of the -escape on hit talents. Or better yet, the talent that gives you a guaranteed 1 or 2 movement advance.)
For everything else, bombardment is a great talent to use as you don't face the usual downside of taking a few hits before it takes effect.
Just a small thing, but it can help!

Ah excellent point. Good to know that if you have them duped into liking you that you have a free(ish) round for set up.
