HS Elite worked fine for two days, I'm enjoying it. Tonight I opened it again (on my Samsung A3 phone, running Oreo) and the game hangs on the initial "connecting to Google play" message. Tried restart of phone, uninstall and reinstall, but still the same problem...

jpg7319 - the most consistent fix is to go into Android Settings > Apps > Google Play AND Google Play Games and clear cache on both apps.

jpg7319 - the most consistent fix is to go into Android Settings > Apps > Google Play AND Google Play Games and clear cache on both apps. Thanks for the quick reply. I cleared the caches but doesn't fix it. I also tried installing HSE on my tablet (same Google account) and it works fine, but even after uninstall and reinstall on my phone it won't start because it is frozen on opening. Installed the free version on my phone too, and it seems ok, at least so far. Pity, I'm enjoying the game but don't want to invest time if it's unstable...

jpg7319 - sorry to hear that! Unfortunately, it has nothing to do with the stability of our game but Google Play Games having issues over the weekend and on-going into today. Here are some other things you can try. You'll notice that none of them have to do with our game nor uninstalling or reinstalling our game. The game is 100% stable. Here are some other things to try: * Make certain you are signed into the correct Google Play account * Make certain that the correct account is set as Primary in Google Play * Update Google Play * Update Google Play Games * Update Google Play Services * Make certain you've accepted all EULA in Google Play * Make certain you have a WiFi connection and that Google Play has the permissions to access the network * If you are still having issues, consider "Clear Cache" on Google Play, Google Play Services and reboot * Make sure all "Developer Options" on the new device are turned off * Make sure you only install Google Play Services updates from Google directly * Make certain the Google Play purchases in question are from the same account as you are trying to use on your new device * Sign into Google Play on the Web to see your application list, and make certain the application is listed as Purchased * Google Support maybe be able to help with device issues related to Google Play, chat is usually the best method

Ok. I've gone through your list and still it's the same problem: says "connecting to Google Play" persistently and doesn't allow access to the game. I'll try Google Play support.

Update: although clearing the cache for Google Play hadn't helped, I just tried also clearing the *data* for Google Play, and that has finally fixed this problem! I look forward to getting into the game properly now, and thanks for your very attentive help.
