Cory... I don't know what can be done about this one. One of the challenges I think should be in the game is... if a planet doesn't have something... whether particular upgrades, supplies, crew to recruit, contracts, etc... you need to move on to another planet to find what you need. This costs you in travel fuel, or what not.
But if you just quit to the main menu, and re-enter, the planet restarts. Essentially, you can just keep quitting and restarting until you get what you need... like filling up crew or whatever.

The only thing I have done right now is make it give you a huge bonus in XP for the more time you keep the same Captain loaded. Essentially, when you use the Urban Zone until it expires the Captain receives an immediate XP bonus as well as a % increase over the next X weeks.
I do acknowledge that what you are describing is a deficiency in my caching system. I am working to correct it, however, I am always very concerned about consuming too much CPU or space. I considered caching things onto the SD card but that requires permissions which I refuse to add.
I need to figure out a solution but an easy one does not come to mind immediately -- aside from giving a bonus to anyone who does not do / does not figure out this trick.
More feedback is appreciated!

Mr. Dumb,
You know I think sometimes the only thing I need is to type out an explanation and then later, I will think of a solution.
I could change it immediately so that the bonus stays in effect but the cities are only regenerated if you load a different character.
That would render this much more annoying to do, and perhaps harder for random people to find as a way to cheat themselves out of the fun of ST RPG =)
Thoughts?

I never noticed the bonus before. Maybe that is enough... though if players don't know it's there, it would not likely serve as a deterent to "cheating" the system.
In the end, of course, you aren't going to be able to cover all the potential cheats like this. Some times you just have to make certain decisions based on how the thing needs to perform. If caching is the issue, that's a huge thing to change... and probably not worth it.
But your solution seems to make sense. The game appears to cache the planetary data anyway, as long as you are playing. So it it just doesn't get wiped or reset unless you change character that would make it just take another step. In the end, the person who really wants to cheat can do so. But it would make it more time consuming, and less "fun".
