I've sent an email or two, but I figured this would allow an open discussion. All be it somewhat of an overhaul, allowing the conflicts to actually impact the game would be nice. Say 2 groups are at war, you decide to help one. Because of a successful mission or two, they win. Maybe they won some territory, or a planet. Maybe the enemy's planet or people are a little lack luster as a result. This would give the game massive depth. You could go back and forth, so it could go on forever, preventing an advantage over one another. But if the player decides to roll with one group, they could help take over the map. Add to that the ability of a blockade to have true impact on a planets resources, you add another war tactic. Perhaps it could be an alternate mode, "war mode" or something.

This is on the roadmap for the game.
As the Captain is able to establish outposts and forward bases they will also be able to participate in an on-going struggle for power.
The Captain will be able to participate in special Conflict Contracts that will allow the player to influence the control of key (currently hidden) trade routes, docks and outposts.
Before these map elements can be unhidden the system needs to have text written and undergo a bunch of testing. I am waiting to see the results of the v4.0 poll before deciding which to chase first.

The other side of this system is a diplomatic element that allows a trader / rumor monger / diplomat to influence the same struggle but without Contracts or Combat.
By negotiating Alliances between key Factions, ending Trade Bans and opening Trade Alliances this type of player could influence the same struggle for control of key resources and sectors.
