I cannot believe that it could have been so simply applied to the existing combat interface for a boarding attack/personal duel like "Pirates!"... Attachments:

Haha. Looks awesome. On a slightly different note, would it be possible to have a popup when duelling and the captain is wounded (similar to explore, red notification) as I often don't bother reading the text at the bottom and suddenly realise I'm almost dead.

If I'm going to keep asking questions when I lurk a thread like this I may as well rejoin the forum;)
I'm almost afraid to ask considering the times I've been advised to move up from basic and start over but... is this duel panel only available on the higher levels or is it part of an up coming update?
I just logged onto the game first to make sure it wasn't something slipped in since yesterday. LOL

You liked it, didn't you?
Nah, it's not implemented but I do hope it will as it povides an additional dimension of play, especially the RPG aspect of it... since it gets personal now.
As for the advice to "start over", that's not what we meant, actually. See, the idea of "starting over" entails having previous data deleted with no bonuses for the present game whatsoever. I'm not sure if you've tried some RPGs where there's a special "New Game+" available after you have completed the game.
Basically, if you have unlocked all available Awards in Basic, you have already "completed" it by showing that you have grasped how the game works. The thing about THIS game is that, not only could you have a New Game+, you still retain your Old Game.
That means that you could... 1) Play as "Captain Doodad" on Basic. 2) Get all available awards. 3) Play as "Captain Dolittle" on Demanding. 4) Get all available awards. 5) Go back to playing as "Captain Doodad" on Basic. 6) Voila! All the things that "Captain Dolittle" has unlocked is now available to "Captain Doodad"! 7) Enjoy your Basic Captain with newer features to smack insects with.

I LOVE IT:) It does add the rpg effect to dueling. I really don't see any unlocks left besides the Narvidan engines maybe I would like. What I miss is the opportunity to obtain the elite faction ships available for real high reps. The only aspect that is "different" from the other rpg and spacer games I've played is when you get killed, you don't die, you just have to begin again at the beginning of the level or the last level completed. It's the die and done aspect I'm not used to. BUT I'M NOT COMPLAINING. LOL

I totally understand where you're coming from. It's uh... different. But if it's the same, it'd be boring, wouldn't it?
As for the elite faction ships, do you mean the "Pride of XXX" vessels? They are on every difficulty level, I believe. You just need to be REALLY lucky. I have yet to find a Pride of Javat myself, despite playing as a Javat Explorer on Demanding for more than 2,000 turns until he died.

Also, back to topic of dueling, we could have new awards. 1) Master of Close Combat (Win 200 fights using Melee only) 2) Sharpshooter (Win 200 fights using Guns only) 3) Psion of Shalun (Win 200 fights using Psionics only) 4) Sone Cold Killer (Reduced 1,000 captains HP to 0) 5) Advocate of Peace (Reduced 1,000 captains MP to 0)

I have yet to find a Pride of Javat myself, despite playing as a Javat Explorer on Demanding for more than 2,000 turns until he died. Like I said, I'm not complaining. LOL I'm the type that would go crazy if I worked up to extremely high everything made one stupid move and lost it all. LOL I'm really not sure of much about the game yet. I've been playing less than a month. I emailed Cory a couple/few/hundred times and he would mention the wealth of knowledge on the forum so I couldn't resist. Now I have to do a drive by at least a couple times a day. I can't recall the original name of my current ship. I've taken my ships from battle and change their names. It is maxed out with a crew of 86, 116 holds, med, med. I think it has 41 sails, 28 torps and three additional officers. I'm assuming the "Pride Ofs" or some type of max military ship is around with around 150 holds, more guns etc. I'm basing that on the players guide recommendation of always carrying 30 w-f, 30 guns, 30 electronics. I also know there are ship officers I don't have. I have a first mate, mechanic and intelligence officer. I had a political officer but dumped her for the intelligence officer. I'm assuming the "elite" ships allow more officers and are faster etc. If I take 5 contracts and pillage along the way, I have to make a couple stops to sell off everything. I only carry a max of 10 guns and electronics, 5 luxury rations and no more than 5-9 w-f; 1 crystal, 1 metal, and 1 vodka. That's almost 40 holds before pillaging I do check the new ships list in ports but haven't come across anything and I assume playing basic no ship other than the aliens will even show up on my sights that are rare. I've run across the alien ship once and the damage alien ship twice but they would even allow me to fire on them. I know there are aliens out there on the other levels. I still get the rumors etc in basic but no contact. However I also stopped planetary exploring because its easier making many shoot down enemy ships.
