I've played some of the Trese brother's games on and off over the past couple of years but only the free versions. Recently I was looking for a fun 4X game to play and stumbled across Star Traders 4X. Played for a day or so and then decided to treat myself to the elite version. Best choice I've made all year. Found the forums tonight after looking for an answer to a question. Gave up playing and just started browsing around the Star Traders 4X forum because there was so much great info and was really surprised to see how much work and time certain contributors put into the forum.
Okay so background done sorry to bore you to death will all that but just want to protect myself if this idea has been brought up and abandoned already. Found a really old post to the Star Traders 4X forum that was a complaint about how managing 3 factions at once was poor game mechanics and that proceeded to pitch the following idea as a change to the game mechanics of Star Traders 4X. I rather believe that it could make for a good game idea on it's own. The idea was to have control over only faction working in conjunction with the two other factions in the universe you choose by having an AI run them too. I think this could work as a sort of in-between Star Traders RPG and 4X versions in the scale of control you will be able to exercise. More nuanced politics, fleet and world management than 4X but more full faction control than single ship of RPG. Thoughts on the matter?

jd - sounds pretty cool! We learned a lot from trying something unique with 4X. It's helped us go onto STF and try more unique things and be more successful with them. Thanks for your support with the games and now the forum!

Well I do really enjoy the uniqueness of 4X it's a different spin and I love it. I haven't played STF yet.
Good job with the games so far and I'm excited to see where you'll go in future.
