While I was collecting data for the revised CK Reference Sheet, I discovered something interesting. I was identifying all the items which can be recovered as loot during encounters. I realized after a while that some loot is specifically associated with particular factions. But it is the faction of the zone that determines the loot, not the faction of the patrol or person you encounter. For instance, the computer file fieldsfire.txt can only be found during encounters in Yakuza zones. Some loot can be found in any of the Corporate zones, and some loot can be found in any of the Gang zones.
It is a little thing, not terribly important. But if you are like me, and you "gotta catch 'em all!", you have to go trolling for encounters in every faction to get every possible item in the game.
