Ok so I'm at the Great Maker's workshop trying to destroy the eight power foci. I've done 4 so far but the numbers of the enemies are getting scarily large. Up till now I wasn't sitting around to fight them, just concentrated on getting past them to reach the power foci and taking advantage of the extra turn to put distance between my heroes and them but now they've almost got me surrounded, not to mention these blasted spawning spiders keep breeding. I was thinking to destroy the foci quickly and then find a nice spot where they can't come at me in large numbers and deal with them little by little but now I'm not so sure that's a good strategy. Any advice on how to win this battle would be appreciated. Also, I died once and I hit Restore, and when I went back into battle I had to destroy the foci all over again, without the extra turn too...so getting out of there and returning later is not a very good option, I suppose? My hero combo is VKKT at level 24, I've made sure to give all of them at least 1 extra move point (Tamilin has 2), anything else I could do to better my chances?

amity - if you Restore, you will need to fight the entire battle over again. A big part of the challenge here is to wipe out the summoners. If you can stay put, no additional monsters will appear except those summoned. My strategy for the overall battle is usually to head east and then do a long loop, killing as much as I can as I go but not focusing on 100% kills. However, every summoner must die. Then dump all the damage onto Vurnak and the battle will end.

I pretty much have the same strategy as Fallen's, except that I always go left (west) and then go clockwise around the room. Either direction works. I also find it helpful to assign someone to tie up Vurnak with AP curses and being a bit of a sparring partner for him. (For your team, maybe Kyera?) He's really slow and AP curses will really nerf him and keep him from messing with your group. If you tie him up, he's basically a non-factor until you're ready to kill him. The drawback, of course, is that you'll primarily be using 3 people (or 3.5 people if the person tying up Vurnak can spare a moment) to fight the mobs that spawn. This leads to my last suggestion, which also mirrors what Fallen said - don't be in a rush to get to each foci. As each group spawns, stay put and kill them off (targeting all summoners first) before moving to the next foci. As long as you stay put, and have someone tie up Vurnak, nobody new will spawn and attack your team until you move into the range of the next foci and cause a new group to spawn. Therefore, you can use that time to heal and rebuff your team. Also, make sure to click those chests along the way. They all have helpful potions and, most importantly, they will all disappear if you kill Vurnak before opening them. (The two locked chests in the middle won't disappear in the end, but all the others will.)

Darn, I've done a lot of things wrong, I only hope I can survive this battle. Didn't even click those chests - I didn't think they would disappear after I killed Vurnak! Well, I'll try to make the best of it from now on and hope I'll survive...thanks a lot for the advice!

I usually start in the west and go clockwise, killing everything in front of me, slowing Vurnak and letting the other enemies behind me come at me slowly so I can easily kill them one by one. Rushing the foci is definitely not a good idea as you will get into trouble at the island in the north where the spider host will spawn.

I'm afraid I already made that mistake, now to see if I can survive...if it's impossible I'll hit Restore, replenish the potions I've spent and do the battle again. At least if I survive I'll get a shit ton of experience...

amity - push through and see if you can win. If you can't, replenish the potions and try it again with the new advice!

Another tip is to use the charms that prolong your buffs beforehand so the buffs run for about 40 turns which will ensure you don't have to recast your buffs in the midst of battle.

I make sure my duelist is closet to Vurnak with Sure Parry enabled, to neutralise Vurnak... Then I send the rest of the team around in a clockwise arc (don't know why I always go clockwise, I just do).
I make sure that I smash the foci with my last action of each turn (I move and fight with everyone else first)... That way it's like getting a double turn before they can attack me.

Thought I'd give you guys an update - I won the battle! I didn't go clockwise because the green spiders had spawned a ton of baby spiders and I wouldn't stand a chance against them, so I headed east and as soon as found a nice spot with only two access points I made a stand there and picked off the cultists. When I had thinned their numbers I had Vraes go on a little raid of his own and take care of a pesky green spider and her offspring, and then I went for the two remaining foci and after those I found another nice narrow bridge and did my battle with Vurnak there. He wasn't particularly hard to deal with after he had been cursed, then again I'm playing on Easy because I'm a total amateur. So all went well, except that I lost some chests I had neglected to open at the beginning and I couldn't double back to get them, but at least I got a lot of experience. Thank you for all your advice!

amity - hooray! Good work digging in on the strategy and taking down such a difficulty battle. Well played.

Perhaps it will be a little consolation, but only two last chests actually contain worthwhile loot.

Perhaps it will be a little consolation, but only two last chests actually contain worthwhile loot. That woudl depend immensely on your loot roles I think
