As the title suggests, a way to recover unlocks from the Google achievements (and steam and ios pendants) would be nice.
Losing the save games isn't terrible but having to play for hours just to be allowed to start as Commander again kills the fun pretty efficiently.

Thanks, this is on the long list. It's honestly pretty dependent on the market's API. Steam does this easily.

It's not there already? I noticed that when you click on the Play Games icon on the main screen, it lists all the unlocks. Mind you, once I log in, I don't see my unlocks showing up as unlocked in the Play Games list--but I figured that was just because I didn't discover the sign-in until after I'd already unlocked them.

We will continue to work to improve the mobile port!

It apparently works already. If you're signed in and you press the "Unlocks" button, Play Games registers all your previous unlocks....I just discovered that.

Hmm...actually, the achievements show up on Play Games on my other device, once I've signed into STF there...but they don't transfer to the STF unlocks. Rats...with no ability to root the Chromebook now, that leaves me stuck if and when I ever move to another device.

Yep, that is what the OP is talking about.

Any new thoughts about adding this soon? Today at lunch, I accidentally took my Chromebook out of Developer Mode, which deleted everything on it...including all my ST unlocks. Honestly, I haven't played in months, but I'm intrigued by all the new updates, and the thought of having to spend weeks of work unlocking things again makes me sick to my stomach.

MTKnife - no, there have been no changes. I can't imagine why coming out of Developer Mode would wipe all your saved games?

Because that's how Google set up ChromeOS: when you move to or from Developer Mode, everything gets wiped (and, to be fair, it does warn you about this). That's somewhat annoying, but the bigger problem is that, every time you reboot the computer (it happened this time because the battery had run down), it asks you if you want to go back to normal mode. If you hit the wrong button and then confirm that choice (easy to do, because it tells you what key to push to go back, but not the key combination needed to stay in Developer mode--and perhaps you're distracted by an arguing 9-year-old), that's all she wrote. It's pretty easy to avoid that outcome, but since the prompt appears every time you reboot, a mistake is bound to happen eventually. It would be one thing if I could back things up, but the workaround for rooting the Android sub-system in Chrome hasn't worked for something like a year now. As a side note, rooting Android devices in general has become more difficult with the latest version, which changed the way the recovery partition works--installing a custom ROM isn't that hard, but to gain root, you have to re-root every time the phone reboots, and it's not a simple process anymore, as it involves building and flashing a custom file from a PC. Therefore, the lack of a way to back up unlocks is potentially a bigger problem for Android users than it used to be, though I don't know how many people with rooted phones play Star Traders. I do own the Steam version, and I've now got a Windows laptop I can drag around something like I drag the Chromebook around, and on that one I wouldn't have to worry about losing anything, but I'm just not sure it's worth the effort to go through the unlocks again. I'm just about willing to volunteer to do the coding for the change, since I suspect it would take less time than the unlocks.

MTKnife - wow that part about the repeated question is scary. Eventually you'll slip up !! Thankfully, Cyber Knights has already overcome this issue.
