Temple of Thirteen - cannot proceed, wrong event order?

My party went down into the temple and fought some soldiers. The battle was hard fought so my party went back to heal at the last campsite. This seemed to trigger some kind of “leaving” event where the dialog suggested my fighter had almost died fighting someone I definitely haven’t fought. I also had another big fight with soldiers. Now I’ve cleared that battle I seem to find my party unable to trigger any sort of event in the temple that might progress things. It’s as if turning to leave early broke the quest line. Or is there nothing to do in this temple except kill two waves of soldiers?

iPad iOS 12.1.4, nobody at the altar. There was some dialog amongst my party when it got to the altar (sorry I can’t recall what it was) but nobody was there. I searched for secret doors but didn’t find any. Have I broken the script? Is this a main or side quest?

@davida - it is the main quest. Unfortunately, there was a pretty important scene there at the altar, I'm not sure how you short-circuited it. Never happened yet in all the years the game has been out.

Since you are on the iPad, the easiest thing is to pull the game off the device via iTunes and email it to me at [e-mail].

I will hand-repair it and send it back, placing you before the temple start again.
