Another community challenge has arisen from our Discord's STF channel (https://discord.gg/tresebrothers), and we're throwing it out there for the June challenge! Can you follow in the footsteps of the recently released famous Bounty Hunters and rise to legendary status? Legendary HunterIn this challenge, you must start the game as a Bounty Hunter. You can start the game on any difficulty, but props clearly going to permadeath players. During early play, you can do anything you want to accrue wealth and experience. First, you must achieve Edict 9 with a faction of your choice. Then, you must complete a $500,000 mission kill or capture bounty mission! To get that size of a payment for your Mission, you're likely to need your Edict, high Military rank, a Contact with the right Traits and/or a high power mission payment boosting Talent. Please post here if you're picking up this challenge! Then post some screenshots and brag about your difficulty and at what date you completed your mission If you missed the May Community Challenge: Small Ship to Prize Ship you may still want to jump in and join the fun.

A challenge! Yeah, that's a tough one. We'll try it on-stream after the current Spy has finished her work.

Now, I was going to do this on Impossible, but I will have to do it on max custom difficulty to one-up Cadar. Here is my template. It is built for missions/ship combat. Not planning on bringing captain into crew combat.

Died against a De Valtos Dart Liner because I waited too long to upgrade my ship Edit: Will try again with a slightly modified template

So, I was just wondering about how all the mission price boosting talents work. Do they get factored into the price displayed when we are taking the mission or added in later? Does the mission have to display 500k or hit it with bonuses after the fact? Also if there is split pay for the mission like Capture and Deposit I guess it's just up to us to track the reward at each step? I'm not even sure if capture missions work that way. Maybe they only pay once at the end.
I'd be curious to know how all those payout boosting talents/traits interact. I know some may stack, but other times it seems like only one fires.

@contributor - the bonus talents are factored as you click "Accept" So, the price could be under $500K and as you accept it, it jumps above.
They all stack. Rank, Edict and Contact Traits apply to the displayed offered price. Talents display as you accept.

Ugh, got trashed by a DV Warhammer Class in part because I waited to long to upgrade my ship (again), but mostly because crucial ship combat talents were on cooldown. I'm tired of small ships and their low crew talent stacks causing inability to handle two consecutive battles early/mid game. I should stick with what I'm good with and go with the Cautela Heavylift. Might as well try out the new Interrogation Chamber this run

Nearly 8 years in, my captain encountered a Terrox Spine. My Cautela Heavy was equipped with two plasma cannons and a missile launcher, but the xenos Twitch Surged to range 2 where my firepower was limited. The Terrox Spine proceeded to smack me around with two lances and a grav driver boosted by Broadside Angle, but my Cautela Heavy has a lot of armor and shielding, which I increased further with Brace For Impact, so they only did enough component damage to knock out one defense matrix.
But then I checked the combat log and noticed something was off. One crew member was brought to 0 HP and saved with a life saver talent, which is normal, but another crew member got to 0 HP and survived a death save of 47%. 47%? That shouldn't be possible on my difficulty setting unless they had a trait that increases death save chance. I checked, and he had no such trait. That's when I realized I wasn't playing on max custom difficulty, I was only playing on Impossible. Facepalm
Oh, but I did use Boarding Assault talents to kill xeno crew to the point where they had such low accuracy dice they couldn't come close to hitting me, and then I destroyed them with my plasma cannons, so it is good to know my ship is xeno-worthy at least.

Ok, so I've got a captain doing well on Impossible now. He's through those rough early stages and proved his prowess by dispatching Aerlus Char. One question though. Do Xeno kill missions count as a legitimate winning mission? I'm not up to max rank/edict yet, but I'm still having a hard time getting missions for 200k.
