I love all the new content. After a few months off, I came back, and even though it doesn't count as "fresh" eyes, there are some things that caught my attention which could be improved.
1. Even on fast crew combat, there is a noticeable delay about 5 seconds when the teams first appear. I can't get hover-help on the enemies. After this pause, the init talents fire and then I can check hover-help to see what I'm facing. It's not a big delay, but it sort of breaks the fast flow. There is no equivalent delay on fast ship combat. I really love the fast ship, and especially fast card game options.
2. When I choose surrender on the ship encounter dialog, and I have a smuggler with hideout, the surrender warning dialog still says that my passengers and mission items are in danger. It would be nice to customize that dialog to at least unlist the items that are protected.
3. The same improvement could be made to the protected by trade permit warning dialog. In that case nothing is actually at risk. (Tangentially, I never understood why using protected by trade permit still causes morale damage.)
4. When I have a good relationship with a contact, I can get up to six potential missions, which I do regularly. This way I can pick several missions all going to the same place. When I click "new mission", it would be great if the new mission consistently appeared at the bottom of the picklist. Currently the order appears kind of random, and it's very hard to pick out which is the new mission. It happens often that several have the same name, and then when a third one of the same appears, I have to click all three to see which one is new. You can sort the mission list, and maybe "sort by last offered" would help here. Then the new mission would be guaranteed to be at the top, or the bottom.
5. In the late game, when I have a ton of contacts, it would be great to have some way to filter by which type of recruit they offer. Or, maybe some other kind of summary sheet could show all this, if you don't want to overload the filter box. I decided I really needed a doctor, and scrolling through the huge list to find who offers doctor recruits was painful. There are so many contact types now, that I can't reasonably memorize which types offer which crew. Some are obvious, like doctors and gestalt doctors. But there are many obscure contact types and there is some variation on which crew a particular type may offer.
6. It's probably too late, and I suggested this last year, but in the late game when I have a number of ship combat talents, it would be really helpful if the graphics of the talent icons could be colorized in some way, or have some themes, or something to help me find the one I want. I wind up using hover help over each one, which takes time. The crew combat talents are color coded which really helps to find them. The crew combat talent icon graphics also happen to look kind of like what they do, like the grenade icons, and how the bleed damage icon looks like a flesh wound. For the ship talents, they're all just random squiggles to me. I don't know how to fund that, but I'd contribute to a fund for a graphic artist for example.
7. I have seen this flash by, but I could not write down the whole quote. There is a crew bark entering a system, which says "At least the denizens of his station" something something. It should be "this" station.
