okey so.
as you can see in screen 1: military rank above 13 is said to be very strict about repotation loss, *any* would incur rank loss.
this is somewhat different from trade permint and edict (3) but understandable, as military is serious bussines.
but then in game, reputation loss of 1 (mitigated as on screen2 or not as when meeting pirate while patroling) doest provoke rank loss.
that said rep loss of 2>= (mitigated or not) does.
there fore, for clarity sake this could be pointed in military rank 13+ information, OR (i like this more) military rank loss could be made inline with edict and trade permit (3>=) or make it as it says in description (oh noes)
this is also directly related to ship encounter - could the default action be moved from ancknowledge to retreat, OR any confirmation or visible information on acknowledge button be added that will inform player about reputation and rank loss if acknowlege is used? i know faction conflicsts are displayed in the conflicts tab and ship travel log, but they can popup and not be noticed, while long discance travel might just make press the default option without checking for new conflicts (each time, so many many times total)
two rants:
on the other hand i dont really get fluff-wise (but i get mechanics-wise) why player even lose rep for acknowledges, unless everey faction is just filled by spies *everywhere* and amount of thier raports outweights reputation (and sources of it) of captain, especially, the frequency of confilct is high enough, and situations that two factions can go from alliance to solar war to trade ban to trade alliance in just 10 years happen.
the second screenshot also points to a other kinda strange thing : why bh does incur reputation loss while meeting his faction hero (high rep) who is also bearer of highest military and hunter ranks? i know there is faction conflict so his hostility was lower (heh heh) due to it, but still its the random bh that should lose rep for interfering with faction MO/BH operation.
