An homage to the Crew Dog Captain profession we'll likely never have. I will use this thread for short discussions heard aboard the "Aluminum Mallard", the illustrious freighter manned by Captain Wilco.
Overheard in Cargo Bay B:
Overheard in Torpedo Mark 6 Turret:
Overheard in a smaller spice hall on an unknown Zenrin world:
Overheard just outside a De Valtos medical clinic in the Farfallen Rim:
More to come...
Overheard in Cargo Bay B:
"Captain, an enemy approaches!"
RW: "Hold on a few minutes, I've almost got this stain out of the luxury clothing."
"I hate it when it's laundry day..."

Overheard in Torpedo Mark 6 Turret:
Invader: "Haha, a Crew Dog captain will never be able to defend his ship from the dreaded pirates of Javat!"
RW: "Careful now. I know 'Karate' and other Japanese words!"
Invader: "..."
RW: "I also have attached a dripblade to the end of my mop."

Zenrin Crew Dog 'Alphys': "I've gotta ask, what is it like having a fellow Crew Dog for a captain?"
Crew Dog 'Buttercup': "You know, he's got a lot of empathy. He really understands what it means to clean the bloodstains out of the boarding module with only organic cleaners."
Alphys: "Wait, so he actually does the post-combat cleanings with you?"
Buttercup: "Oh sure. We even have a weekly meeting to discuss laundry efficiency and best practices as well. All the senior officers are required to attend."

Overheard just outside a De Valtos medical clinic in the Farfallen Rim:
Doctor De'Morgan: "Your crew is good for the money, and I'm fine patching you all up. But I need to ask you privately... why don't you just hire a Wing Tech or two? Surely they'd be able to mitigate some of the threat of these incoming bombers you keep nearly dying to."
Quartermaster 'Jeffries': "Nah, Captain Wilco strictly forbids Wing Techs. Says they're too unreliable. But, to be honest, I think he feels they're competition. Too much overlap with the duties of a Crew Dog."
De'Morgan: "Come now, that's insane. A little envy is no reason to lose a crew! If they're better, they're better!"
Jeffries: "I think you underestimate the Captain. Last time we were boarded, the floor was squeaky clean. But it was also wet and slippery. The entire boarding team slipped and fell. Swordsman sliced the femoral artery of their medic as they fell, and that just made things slipperier. By the time our defensive crew arrived the foes were half dead with shame and easy to 'mop up' as the Captain put it."
De-Morgan: "Surely you don't expect me to believe that story!"
Jeffries: "Never underestimate the power of superior footing."
