At the moment the game has a lot of unlocks/achievements for story-related missions and short sprints (i.e. 'x' of something within 2,5,10 years). It occurred to me that one thing you could add is marathon rather than sprint achievements. So rather than do 50 of something (explore/patrol/blockade) within 2 years on hard, maybe something like do 1000 successful attempts (or if that's too small, 5,000 or 10,000) of something in a single hard+ run. These wouldn't necessarily need to be linked to an unlock, but could simply give your captain a title (though unlock is fine too). For example:
Do 1000 successful explores on hard+ mode for the explorer achievement and gain the title "the explorer". Do 5000 successful explores on hard+ mode for the chief explorer achievement and gain the title "the chief explorer" Do 10000 successful explores on hard+ mode for the professor of exploration achievement and gain the title "professor of exploration"
(please don't focus on the titles, I just put those in as placeholders).
You could then do similarly for each of the other card games: scavenging, spying, patrolling, blockading.
