Just wondering if I did things in the wrong order. I visited the Storm Brothers and slew the wolf lord and got the tip to investigate how the Vladin’s hand supplies made it up there. By now I already visited Ellista (via Kea Braeys, shortly after I finished city of the dead), and got the tip of where to look for Ravenna. For Vladin’s Hand I assumed that Riven Field is the place to go, but my heroes won’t let me head back into the Western Underdeep either overland or by boat. They’re directing me not to delay in my quest (although they didn’t mind that whole digression for the weaver). So did I miss the boat on Vladin’s Hand? Or will that part of the map open back up after I’ve found Ravenna?

constantvitalrivet - as it stands today, the return to Riven Field is closed and you missed the boat on returning to Riven Field to talk to Vladin's Hand.

Ah well. I thought I did things in a pretty logical order. Did I miss any good loot?

bumping this as I ran into the same situation - I've been trying to complete every side quest but there have been ones that I was unable to find any leads on even after going to every town a couple times each. I went to every quest marker on the world map and did a very thorough search of things (or so I thought, at least, unless there are bugs) but could not find a way to continue on with a couple of the quests (re-establishing an outpost for Vladin from Ep3 and hunting down the Cult of the Great maker from Ep2).
Given that there are a number of quests in the game that cannot be completed in the episode that they are gained, it seems counter-productive (and counter-intuitive, even) to be prohibiting people from pursuing quests that they have no way of knowing they would be unable to complete. Players essentially are otherwise lead to believe that if they can't do something now they'll be able to do it later, and as someone that has done their best to be exhaustive about completing everything it's a bit frustrating to be arbitrarily blocked like this. I had weirdly enough actually been looking forward to finally getting an interaction with "the family" there in Riven Field but now I basically need to replay through the entire game just to do so =/

@sadpanda - sorry for the badly looped / incomplete story. If we were still making meaningful updates to Heroes of Steel, I'd consider cutting it altogether.

fallen - all good, wasn't really expecting a solution since the game has been out for nearing a decade haha - appreciate the response though! also, as an aside I just wanted to add - you all did a phenomenal job in terms of storytelling / world-building - hands down some of the best I've ever seen!

Thank you As the storywriter, that makes my day. Tbh, we had even higher ambitions for some of the storylines and what you're bumping into here is where we ran out of time/budget to loop back and finish things as cleanly as we wanted. Next time!
