I have found one of the new ships. Cool! I bet there is a reason why you did not tell the names.

It's just me. I went back in on Normal with my new captain. I'm just not into the starting over from stratch. Maybe later?
My old Captain is a perpetual ghost I guess. LOL I'll wait for ST 2 to revive him when I notice it in the market or something.

I may be able to add some fix for the 2 billion credits defect but I suspect that your individual character is corrupted in some form or fashion.

At least the danger of an impending doom due to a black-hole generated by your horrifyingly enormous stats was taken down by game limitations. We are safe... for now. ;D

Okay I'll show my complete ignorance of programming. The Central Database isn't actually a server right? Each downloaded game is independent on its device? Or are they all connected in a cloud or something? I assumed talk of potentially causing a black hole was just joking. I would have asked what was the safe limit otherwise. And I accept the fact that it's just my individual preference and gaming experience to chose to play games where you aren't forced to begin a shooter/rpg completely from the beginning again and not being rewarded for your experience and history by starting with again at the last competed level with your cash, upgrades, ships etc still available once earned or purchased. Cory can attest that before I came to the board. We had exchanged several emails where I practically begged for a higher priced edition with the features I'm attracted to. As is, had they charged $10 for the game, I would have still considered it a bargain. So it's definitely not a value issue. So I'm not complaining about my old buddy being a ghost, doomed to a sexless eternity on his ship. LOL He had a good life if it's over. I just haven't been excited enough to keep playing with new captains. I've created several on levels from Normal to Challenging and and Demanding. I just can't get into starting as a rookie and the baby ships. I've gone back in with my Basic captain to search for the new ships a couple times. I can move freely, engage, even accept and execute contracts. It just can't sell or buy, buy repairs etc. But the ship also apparently will perpetually have its current cargo load. I'm interested to see the new ships. I'll check in here periodically to check on progress of ST2 or any new game creations. I don't want to leave the impression it was a negative experience or even ending. I enjoyed every minute of it. As long as I could play the way I preferred.

The Central Database isn't actually a server right? It is a fictional global banking / informational system in Star Traders RPG universe. Here is a description of it posted by Cory some time ago: Central Database There is a banking system called the "Central Database" which protects and insures all Credits, so looting money from ships is not an option. Centralized banking is a backbone of the reputation, Faction and commerce systems. Credits, Reputation or Rank – the 3 pillars of the Central Database. Central Database, and it's agents, play a major role in the Quadrant. Contracts exist as a formal operation within the laws of Shalun. When a Captain arrives (and is recorded by the Central Database, along with his Reputations) the Marque of Contract is registered with the Palace. If the Captain wanders off the the Spice District the Faction may move to have the Contract marked as Expired in the Records of the Quadrant. However, it is possible (although dishonorable) for the Captain to both succeed at his Contract and deliver a success while simultaneously being Recorded as a dishonor to the Faction. The Central Database – and by proxy – the Central Exchange already play a central roll in every single moment of the Star Traders game. Captains, as owners of ships are legally forbidden from borrowing money. Only Gravs – those who own or are legally bound to surface land – can borrow from the Central Exchange. Your character is a Captain and he made a choice – an irrevocable choice – to leave behind his Faction's world and register as a Captain with the Central Database as a Ship's Master. Most Captains steer clear of conflict with the Central Database. Certainly some of the "Destroy" contracts we are taking come against independent captains who have taken action against the Central Database.

Also, to add on about what is a Central Database, it had also been established that, under Shalun Law, no machine should be able to work without an active human participation. Thus, Central Database is NOT a computer. Simply because computers are machines that works independently.
Thus, forummers had been speculating who the heck is Central Database. Is it a lone entity (would be a woman), workers voted in by every faction in the universe, controlled by Shalun-sanctioned council or aliens in disguise?
