When I am running the game, I get to the start screen, but the buttons don't react to mouse clicks (or fingerpad button clicks, for that matter). Reinstalling the game doesn't help
The version is 5.0.3, but I had the issue in earlier, just decided to wait for the final version. System is Windows 10.
Edit: ok, this isn't a mouse issue, it's a display issue The buttons' display isn't in tune with the areas of the screen reacting to mouse clicks. The game in general is displayed wrong and doesn't fit the screen.

Are you running the Steam version? What is the resolution? Do you have any unique GPU or graphics settings to take into account?
Have you tried launching the game in fullscreen (or windowed mode, if already fullscreen?)
I'm sure we can figure out what is causing the issue with the GPU. Thanks!

This is the steam version of the game. Resolution for the system is 1920x1080, but it seems to be much lower when running the game, about 1080x720. Display mode was full screen. I actually managed to set it to windowed mode, and it is working in that mode. This wasn't easy since I needed to anticipate where I need to click to change the settings, or open the options screen in the first place.
The error is still there when I switch back to fullscreen mode though.

crimsonking - sorry to hear about the issue. It is caused by your Windows DPI text size setting. If you want to play in fullscreen mode, you should be able to tweak some settings in Properties > Compatibility around high DPI. Depends on your Windows OS version exactly what they are called.

Since the game is working properly in windowed mode it's ok for me.
