some of the story missions state something like "if you want to help xx contact, go to the missions screen and accept the mission". Had a few people on discord recently that were stumped until they realized that they never accepted the said mission. I think the story text led them to believe that they did accept the mission just by choosing the story branch (or whatnot).
Suggestion is to either take them directly to the mission screen instead of finishing the dialog, or put an 'accept mission' button in the dialog? Just thoughts, but it even had Officer Genious stumped this afternoon :-)

Thanks for the suggestion! We definitely won't put an accept mission button into the dialog, as they need to review the particulars of the mission before accepting it. It is on our list to make an animated "flash" of the mission item whenever you return to the main screen and a new mission has been added.

I think what makes it particularly confusing is that some story events add a mission directly to your list, whether you want it or not.

Yes, that's a good explanation, but unless the player is aware that's how things work, the existence of the explanation doesn't make things less confusing.
