This contains Spoilers regarding the mission "Call of the Strong" you have been warned . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
So there is one thing that bugs me about "Call of the Strong". You can side either with Cadar or with Steel song but in the end everyone is breaking Shaluns law in the one or the other way. Cadar is cowardly using black ops to fight a shadow war against Steel Song. The Song on the other hand is shifting prisoners to black sites to be tortured by some crazy assassin guys. Of course you can decide to say you will have no part of this after Commander Axeil tells you the story, but in my opinion you know too much at this point to just walk away if you take Shaluns Law seriously.
So my suggestion is to open a third option. Instead of taking a side you run to your favorite Arbiter and tell her the whole story. Bookstorm will be eger to solve this mess as upbraiding the two faction bullies with the full force of the law would be such a great accomplishment for the United Coalition. To get this through however Bookstorm would need hard evidence. I am not sure what would be reasonable here (e.g. would Bookstorm sacrifice the Zenrin Prisoner so we could get to the Cadar trooper? Would Bookstorm want us to lead a raid on the Steel Song black site or to Kidnap Axeil?

I like the idea. But dude. I will happily break shalun law into pieces for an immortal super soldier. Vytavtas is EXACTLY that. The law means nothing if the Xeno eat the factions. And well... He's one of the few who can combat them INSANELY effectivelly.

BTW I find Vytavtas to be pretty underwhelming for what you can get out of the random recruits if you search hard enough. Does he have any thing special I happened to overlook?

His traits can lead to immortality. Combined with Resilience his death save can be 100%

The Coalition is not above playing politics. There is at least one time when they ask you to keep quiet about a violation of Shalun law (a "Hunna" attack is actually the actions of another faction). Being completely forthright results in a solar war between the factions and the coalition will be unhappy. They want peace, not necessarily justice.
And of course the entire consolidation/dissension era is built around the question as to whether to publish something damaging (which triggers a wave of riots and other problems) or to keep quiet (which allows the consolidation to proceed smoothly).
So I don't think laying everything out before Brookstrom would necessarily result in both factions getting their hands slapped -- the Coalition doesn't have nearly that level of power at that point in time. More likely Brookstrom would parley the knowledge into greater influence. There simply isn't another option at that point in history; there is no strong central government that can knock the heads of the factions together and punish them both for their actions. This is deliberate; there is great fear that another central government would be Guild 2.0, and so the loose relationship between the factions, with their assassin duels and trade wars, is considered a lesser evil compared to that ancient tyranny being reborn.
Respectfully,
Brian P.

Cool suggestion, thanks for posting it. I am not sure Estelle would be interesting in burning her political capital on the case.
Also, this amazing storyline was created by a KickStarter backer who wanted to focus on these two paths to resolution and not a legal angle.

We really appreciate all the creative energy our Kickstarter backers have put into crafting these storylines.
From Vytavtas to the Rivesh blade, these backer-added stories remain among the most popular arcs in the game.
Vytavtas is even better now in the Carrier era.

Yeah--he's roughly the same level of the rest of your crew, which means he's not 30 years behind the power curve. In any case, yes, I agree that this particular storyline makes me queasy, in not offering a choice that isn't patently immoral.

Sorry to hear you had a negative reaction to this Kickstarter backer's storyline. It is very popular with many players and we thank the backer for all their support. As with all of the side-quest / vignettes, you can skip it if it makes you feel ill. Thanks for playing!
