Hi. I don't think this behavior makes sense.... During a mission to destroy a captain and his ship, you can take the ship, use the destroy button, and still claim a successful contract. I always imagined that the destroy button after taking a ship caused you to scuttle your original ship, but if destroying the enemy ship is part of the contract, this is obviously a breach of that contract, right?

This is a good point and a probable logical flaw in the game.
I can fix it easily with a switch in the logic of the game's reputation system.
What do the readers think? Should taking the ship fail a contract to destroy it?

No, it shouldn't. There is no point in wanting a ship destroyed and not the captain. I always imagined that, that type of contract would mean killing the captain and crew. You even said it youself, an assassination. You can't assassinate a ship can you?

No, but when you take the contract it specifically says to destroy the ship, doesn't it?

I'd love to be able to tow a ship to dry dock instead of having to ditch my original ship.
Consider a big penalty to fuel usage, signature, and you're a pirate magnet while towing.

If your mission is to kill the captain and scuttle the ship. And you take that captain's ship, you essentially, trade ships. The Captain that you were going to assassinate is now in your old ship which is not his ship, which you scuttle. You still fulfill the contract regardless if you trade ships or not.

Damn it.
I should probably just join so I can re-edit.
