Something for the long list: When a no-save character is 1 turn away from leaving the save slot timeframe, if there is an unused save slot for that character, the game could auto-save right there for them. This would handle the common (?) case of a hardcore player dying but forgetting that save slots exist. It would also maximize the benefit of the save slots as you'd be saving as far into the future as is possible. This is in no way inspired by my recent year 1 death on a new captain playstyle where I forgot to save at all!

That would be awesome. Or at any time after intro. I have so many late games, that I forget there are save slots for early games. They are not in a location that is visible while playing. There have been times I have gotten killed at 2 weeks by an overly aggressive pirate, or i really liked the balance of the crew and decided to save before the time limit, only to miss it by a day because I was on a mission.

Great suggestion added to the list.

If I get a good crew on a map I like I always use the first save slot right away, turn 1 before I make any changes. I frequently miss the 15 week mark due to inattention, however. Nice suggestion!
