I just had an idea.
So when we go on missions, there's a gradual uptick in chance of mission success as you keep trying for it.
What if something could be implemented like that when we aren't on missions?
I'm on patrol over a planet, and I spot a 'new contact' card potential. If I want to pursue that card with single minded determination like I would in a mission, I'd like to.
Maybe if we could set an indicator that we'd like to consider that a 'mission' card, and it doesn't reset until we either get kicked out or leave. Then as we roll through the cards, at least we feel like we're making progress toward something through all the RNG pain.
Could be implemented for the spy/patrol/blockade/explore.

dragonspear - very cool concept! I am not sure it fits into the way that the card game mechanics are built but I like how it gives additional agency to the captain. Perhaps a future game!
