Trying to figure out a way to get Fyona as mt. Without Phalanx for aoutoblock, I can’t figure it out. No extra MP, no block assist, etc. how do I handle ranged attacks for her?
rest of party: Vincent, selen, (personal reasons) and Vraes more bc I’ve never been a duelist guy in any rpg

Selen is a very good MT. Fyona can OT just well.
Vraes can MT in various ways as well, but if you do not feel like it, it's okay.

Ranged attacks can be handled late game when she gets her unique item which can be a shield with lots of ranged autoblock. Before that point I don't think Fyona can handle being main tank on nightmare.

For Fyona to MT, you have to be more defensive minded.
and not have Fyona leading the charge (The range element target the leaders more than the back row.)
Also you will have to use the shield that give you some range blocking.
As a foot note, when Fyona dies on me, it is not do to range, it is close melee ones that get a series of critical hit on her.
