I’m the big, bad wizard your mother told you about...
I say that a lot when smacking trolls in nightmare w/Kjartan as he’s my main melee dps, followed by Vraes then Kyera. He was my fist character to reach 100, then 200 points in a single hit. That said, Tamilin *IS* my dps. She does 80-85% of the group’s total most turns, sometimes more.
I’d like to do spell damage, but it’s so dang tough just to stay alive. I must have played Ep.1 10-15 times on nightmare before making it to the bridge. Another 2-3 times to get part way through Ep.2 before biting it.
The last time I bit it, I took an 18 month break to rethink things...
I rebuilt my team and tried again... When Kjartan got down to 6hp in two hits in the Underforge, I again did a re-think. I then spent 14 Bloodstones to get ready for the Vurnak fight...
When I wrapped up Ep.2, I went to revisit a zone off of Granthorn. Trolls almost got me... Then SIX bloody Kobolds almost gacked my group. That was the last straw... I really obsessed over and over over and then respeced Vraes & Kyera.
Every last character is now a tank, provided I keep things debuffed.
Vraes and Kyera usually tied for melee defense, barring armor (Vraes usually +40-50 higher)
Kjartan is equally balanced for melee and ranged (his ranged is better than Kyera’s and Vraes’)
Tamilin is a ranged defense god equal to Vraes, but pulls the lowest melee defense
The toughest fights have been:
The Baron (one char down to 7hp)
Gholla Outlook
Vurnak (just the start... it got pretty easy by the end)
The Krete onslaught (I respeced just before that fight)
The Cult’s HQ, the first level really caught me flat footed.
Orc Lord Kriton... that was a 3.5h fight tonight. I went through 40-50 potions. Without my team being mega tanky I might have been running about the map for 8-10 hours or just dead.
And random Kobold encounters... I treat them with the utmost respect. Yet to do Craig Peak due to the group of Kobolds that almost got me last time.
Currently #7 on the board. The Wolf Den or Craig Peak is next.
