After discovering Heroes of Steel I decided to explore some of your other games--and couldn't resist trying out Age of Pirates! The Star Traders series definitely looks interesting and I'm sure I'll try it eventually, but there's just something about sailing the seas that made this my first choice after HoS. Even though AoP is an older game it's new to me!
I've tried several Captains, none have made it past level 4 (most have been eaten by Kraken) but I really like the theme and presentation. Of course I'm intensely curious about the mechanics but I know, after reading multiple threads, those types of questions typically go unanswered. So I'll experiment and discover (which really provides a different experience than mathing it all out in advance).
Anyway, I was wondering about the Smuggler. The Smuggler starts with Charm 12, Dexterity 12, Commanding 6, and Haggling 6 as the high attributes and skills. What is the reason for Commanding being higher without increased Intelligence, while both Navigation and Dexterity (Dexterity-related skills) start at 1?
There's a lot of depth to this game and I look forward to figuring out how to survive. I'd love to see an AoP 2 in the future but I'm probably in the minority. Thank you for making challenging games that require perseverance and thought to succeed!
