Hello everyone! I noticed that the current roadmap calls for additional story vignettes, so I thought I might give my two cents on what a possible cool mission could be.

Around the middle of the fourth era, post Jyeeta awakening
Location:
Upon landing in a Alta Mesa controlled planet
Conditions:
Starport rating of 8 or higher and 100 positive rep or higher. Chance to trigger each landing. Chance increases with positive rep over 100.
Description:
When the major story vignette is triggered, the player is presented with a new contact, a Alta Mesa academy mechanic (think starport mechanic + academy consul), who begins a dialogue with the player concerning a 1-10 hyperwarp distant Alta Mesa starport on which a science officer is located. The player is informed that the science officer is a friend from the same academy the mechanic attended, and that he has received news that the science officer is close to inventing blueprints for M10000 (M10K) void engines. However, the science officer needs a mechanic for construction, Xeno intel, and financial backing to complete the design.
Tasks for the player:
First, the player must transport the academic mechanic to the science officer, once the player arrives on the planet, due to the nature of the mission, secrecy is a must, so the player is required to pass a stealth check (failure results in -50 reputation from both Alta Mesa and Rychart and +20 Rychart score, explained later). Once transported, the player will be required to gather 50 Xeno scientific intel from salvaging and deliver it to the science officer within 2 years (failure results in mission outcome #4). Once that is completed, the player will receive a new contact of a Alta Mesa high prince/princess, who is willing to back the millions of credits needed to fund the production of the M10K void engine. The player must achieve 75 personal reputation with the contact via prince missions, however, the missions will solely target Xeno and Jyeeta. The time limit for this task is 5 years, failure to do so results in outcome #5. Once the player has completed all three tasks, the player needs to protect the science officer from Rychart spies, who have caught wind of the science officer's efforts and are actively trying to steal the blueprint intel. Rychart will send powerful bounty hunters and spy vessels to blockade the planet and attack the player. Each month that the blockade stands and is not broken, Rychart's score increases by 5. Breaking the blockade is a three step process, so the player must draw the mission success card three times to break it. Each mission success card is a ship fight with a powerful bounty hunter. Each Rychart spy or bounty hunter ship destroyed by the player in the quadrant lowers Rychart's score by 2 and gives double reputation penalty.
Outcomes:
#1 If Rychart reaches 100/100 score, they will steal enough intel to reproduce the M10K void engine and at the same time prevent Alta Mesa from producing it, assassinating the science officer and reducing the influence of all related contacts by -50. After a few years, two 10,000 mass ships will be available from Rychart, which their details can be found here startradersrpg.proboards.com/thread/20530/profession-new-ships-suggestions
The player must have over 300 positive reputation with Rychart to purchase either ship, at 150% of the base price.
#2 The player has the option to willing sabotage the science officer's efforts, and relay their work to Rychart. If the player runs the data cubes to Rychart successfully (will be pursed by an elite Alta Mesa bounty hunter), they will receive 1M credits, 100 positive reputation, and a esteemed introduction to a Rychart high prince/princess. The player will also receive a reputation reset to -25 from Alta Mesa and will lose contact with the mission associated Alta Mesa contacts. After a few years, the two ships will be available from Rychart at base price.
#3 If the player succeeds in breaking the blockade, the player will gain 50 personal reputation with all mission associated Alta Mesa contacts and Alta Mesa itself. Alta Mesa will offer the two ships in a few years at base price. The player will lose 25 reputation with Rychart and their scorn for not helping them.
#4 If the player fails to deliver the Xeno intel, they will be informed that the science officer has been arrested for heresy and awaits trial. The player losses contact with the mechanic. The player will be attacked by a Xeno ship, which wants to retrieve whatever intel the player has gathered and avenge their fellow Xenos.
#5 If the player fails to gain 75+ personal reputation with the high prince/princess, they will be informed that the science officer has been arrested for heresy and awaits trial. The player losses contact with the mechanic and prince/princess.
So yeah, I thought that this mission would be a good addition for Alta Mesa, as they specialize in ship building. I thought it would be also a good idea to incorporate my previous suggestion of 10,000 mass ships. Adding this story vignette would add substantial endgame content and encourage players to make their build efficient to prepare for harder tasks (e.g. 50 specific scientific intel in 2 years).
