tanus79 - the scaling difficulty is based around XP, and not days passed. As you get stronger (gain more XP) the difficulty goes up. grävling - about what point does your XP outweigh the challenge? I can fix that for you =P

fallen: I can't speak for Gravling, but after about 400-500 XP if felt like there wasn't a fight my cybersword Slider couldn't beat unless I got stupid. I'd guess that after 200 XP or so there are very few fights I can't at least survive by having my knight run. (That diff. scales over XP is fascinating, it implies that my typical foo/time based thought process from ST: RPG is solidly wrong. Though time is still money once you've hired runners....) -abs

absimiliard - ST scales on time, not XP. CK is XP, not time. We shake it up =P Just play Templar's on Brutual. In Cyber Knights, our high end battles stop around 300, so that makes sense. Look out for future releases that change the playing field in lots of different ways (including some high XP monsters and battle groups). Thanks for the feedback.

Actually, there's a fascinating depth to the difference of difficulty/XP vs. diff./time.
I feel compelled to note, for the record, that I wouldn't say that ST scales solely over time. I do think it isthe dominant scaling factor, but let's not forget that while the ship you face is time-driven the enemy captain's level is driven by your level. Having said that, I will grant that I tossed in the "for the record" caveat because I feel the ship/time factor is much bigger for most ST players than the captain/level factor is. Although that breaks down around level 50 on Impossible, which is almost impossible to reach anyway.)
I need to think about the implications a little bit more though. In particular I'm wondering if by focussing heavily on XP/time, like say by cycling Los V pickups out of Tuckamore's, you aren't actually hurting yourself. I could see the focus on refused jobs, for focus on the 2XP & single-sector pickups, could result in you getting too many XP in relation to money. So you could be underequipped for a fight, compared to someone who got their XP via slower but more profitable methods.
Of course it's all even more complicated if you're running a runner-economy. The change to Time = Money when you hire your team, and how that rate can differ depending on which runners you get, could make that worse. I've often thought the hardest part of a team-based play-style is keeping the money up, a team of good runners is tres expensive. I'm wondering if some of that could be aggravated by XP farming. (which is a low-cash activity for me)
Lots to ponder. Excellent.

I want my +3 brawling, but that is about all I cannot live without points wise. But I want a 3 job computer, and a taser, and a mk251 rifle -- and later, some armour. And some nice implants. So for me the big problem with playing CK has been *I need more cash* rather than *I need more xp points* at least early on. I think by being greedy in different ways we have developed different styles of play.

grävling - about what point does your XP outweigh the challenge? I can fix that for you =P about XP 450 these days. I am getting better. It used to be about 600, but I retire them earlier and earlier these days.

Correction to first post, I meant Star Traders and now cyberknights. cyberlords is completely different:P
Knowing that difficulty increases by xp helps a lot. I think I let my xp get a little to high before I had even progressed with a new PDA,guns, etc. I allowed myself to get pulled into battles to often as well, rather than evade, get caught, and try to bail out of the fight I’d just kill them, or at least to try and kill them. My faction standings were terrible with a few factions and to low in others to even go into a bars backroom.
I’m going to try again and take the “do not shoot at anyone” approach till my faction standings are decent and I have a good amount of cash.
