Current feature requires you be on the world you're towing a ship from to direct it to where it is going and queue upgrades. Would be nice if you could order the tow from any world (much like dismissing and retraining crew requires an orbit/landfall, but not to be on the crew's homeworld.)
When suggesting things I try to think of why existing systems might exist. Instant communication between star systems and planets may not be possible, but logistically towing = hiring a service to go from point A (ship location) to point B (ship destination.) This would add a stop to that route: the point of origin. Send a message from point X (whatever current system you are in) to point A (ship location,) along with a contract or seal confirming your authorization for the transfer (& payment,) and then the ship is towed to point B (ship destination.) Such a contract would be able to effortlessly include instructions for the destination point as well; thus, remote queueing & requesting isn't conceptually different from towing, given that a towing service exists.
Further logic for allowing this: one-way missions don't require you to return to the point of origin to get paid, your bankroll is immediately credited on completing the terms of your contract. This suggests there *is* some sort of check-in system available to star traders at any urban point of call where information is stored and transmitted. That same system ought to be able to allow for requesting a tow remotely and upgrades.
From a player perspective, this would simply be a huge QoL improvement. Thanks for reading!
