I really love the game, but let's face it -- trading RTGs buyed from contacts is cheating. I appeal to make them rarer.
== Why? ==
The only limiting factors for contact-selled RTGs are
(a) having such contacts with enough influence and personal rep
(b) money
Every more or less experienced player knows how to get a mass of contacts by letting his crew work. And everyone know how to push influence and PRep with intel or missions. Money isn't a problem anymore after max. 3 RTG trade runs, even if you don't sell at a black market. And please don't mention contact cooldown as a factor.
For illustration. One of my common mid-ships is the Azure Defender. I can install up to about 250 Cargo space (comparable to a starting ship's Paladin Cruiser cargo build btw. and we all know that a cargo of 300+ is no problem). So 250 x 4000 Credits = 1 Mio Credits for a full cargo of Iridlaentine. If I'm not misguided now, I can sell them for 250 x 7200 Credits = 1.8 Mio Credits at High-Tech, Orbital and Refinary and make a ridiculous profit. And the Lord beware of Shortages. After crowning my smuggler and trading a dozen runs of Iridlaentine once I felt like Scrooge McDuck.
So -- *250* units of Iridlaentine. Really? If I work like a horse exploring or salvaging I can be glad finding some dozens of RTGs of all kind. One of my favourite quadrants, Brian's Belt, produces *Grain* in that dimension -- on *three* economically developed farming systems. Two industrial worlds there produce ca. 130 units of farming machinery. And so on. Power Generators are the real RTGs, if you ask me. And yeah -- on the default map Brian's Belt supplies a RTG, so after some conventional trade runs my adress book is full of contacts which want me to trade Kongon Locusts. While my first contact cools down (26 weeks) I can sell KLs of 3 other contacts (if I am lazy).
So why the heck should anyone trade normal goods?
== What now? ==
*Suggestion:* Limit the units of RTG a contact can sell.
I even provide an idea for a formula:
#RTGs = (Eco + Spa) * (1 + Inf / 100)
with
Eco -- Economy Rating of the contact's sytem
Spa -- Space Port Rating
Inf -- Contact's influence
I think it's max Eco = 28, max Spa = 10 and max Inf = 100. So max #RTG = 76 at ideal conditions. That seems far more fairer.
Support me to appeal to the devs, or hate me if you want to continue cheating!
