We've moved pretty much completely over to Discord at this point. It has forums, Studio meetings, threaded discussions and around 6000 members. Andrew and I are online constantly and we're coordinating builds, alphas and all the stuff do online there. discord.gg/tresebrothers

nothing left here but a lonely little sheep that watches from the shadows and guards and tends to a garden of torps waiting to be fired upon the return of the original members of this strange pasture he fondly calls home.

I think it is time to put the forums to read-only.

I think it is time to put the forums to read-only. If we could, we would but there is no feature for it in ProBoards as far as we can see. We check weekly to clean up the tiny trickle of spam we get. We have made posting require an account, so we don't get guest user spam anymore which has cut it by about 80%.

I wish more people still came here. Discord is nice, but it's not a substitute or replacement for a forum. There are things that can be done here you can't do on Discord. Reading the posts is one of the big ones. I can check out thing here without having to be logged in. It's easier to follow conversations for me. I get home from work and open up Discord and see 100+ new messages in a channel and get lost it seems trying to read through them all. Here I can take my time reading everything and not feel left out because too many people are talking at once and the screen keeps scrolling.

ntsheep - the stream forums are pretty active for CKF and STF if that is a better place. We've migrated most of our true forum activity there.

fallen I understand that for your newer games, that may be true. You and your brother have grown so much as game devs that it's wonderful to see how it's all turned out. It just feels lonely here at times when I think about all the fun and friends I made here. This was the first internet forum I ever joined and it was just to report a bug. I was surprised that Cory responded and with in few days it was solved and fixed for the next update. I didn't expect the wild and amazing journey I would end taking with everyone here. This became one of my first true digital homes and pastures. I don't want to see this place fade away and become forgotten.

We have the best community, and we are so thankful for that. And this place was its first home.

Discord have forums too. Much more useful for less-known issues.

This perfectly sums up why I continue scrolling through these quiet pastures that are tended to by those who refuse to abandon them- Discord is a wonderful tool, but I agree, it will never be able to replace forums like this. This is one of the first games I ever truly fell in love with, and I always find myself coming back to it every few years, just to discover more hidden tricks and mechanics and content. I only wish I had joined the forum here while I had the chance, as I am now forever doomed to be a guest in these endless fields of Cadarian Hunter-Killers. -Rosemary

Account registration was disabled because there were too many bot accounts being created and spam posting links to other sites, some not family friendly. fallen had to do a major purge that also unfortunately took away one of the longest running threads here known as the Torp War. The premise form the original poster was that it was a version of 'Ban the Person above you' You came up with a silly reason to fire a 'Torpedo' at the person above you. It lasted for over 850 pages. The only proof it ever existed now is a few special 'History threads' and several other posts through out the forum.

The only proof it ever existed now is a few special 'History threads' and several other posts through out the forum. Ah, yes, I read your archives on the Torp War. It is almost fitting, in a sad way, reading through bits and pieces remaining of the lost histories, like some hunched scholar tabbing frantically through some damaged Narvidian Archives, piecing together their culture through what remains, despite what is lost, corrupted, or destroyed. I will never claim that discord does not have very strong benefits, especially when it comes to the tools it provides for moderation and user-vetting. At the end of the day, especially with the popularity the games have achieved now, it is a more appropriate platform in more ways than it is not. Sometimes, when you upgrade to a new ship, you trade the old one in, and it disappears forever, doomed to be forgotten. And sometimes, you upgrade to a new ship, and you leave the old one in the dry-dock, unwilling to part with it, despite it being insufficient for the tasks demanded of you by the void. Instead, you leave it with its crew, those last remaining fanatics, stock it with water-fuel and luxury rations, and leave it behind as you move on to greener pastures. I never meant to imply the disabling was the wrong choice, nor that the move to Discord was. I just happen to be an old, sappy Gun-Bunny who wishes I could have made it in with the rest of the crew before those battered old blast-doors locked down for good. -Rosemary, The Eternal Guest
