So based on the subject, why is it that machine guns (i.e. Uzis, mt autos, etc.) take about 5 ap/shot? I mean, if they really were machine guns with that kind of clips, they should have no more than 2ap/shot. Just a little food for the brain...

Well, pratically when you shoot with a machine gun you try to hit the enemy with more than one bullet =) Sniper rifles shoot less bullets per attack, for example...=)

james123- when I fire my 5 AP machine gun, I usually get 4 or 5 shots off, dealing about 4 damage a hit (when I hit). Machine guns have the quality that missing is much less likely to prevent you from continuing fire, so I almost always get 4 shots off. Compared to my heavy pistol, where I pay 3 AP to get 1 shot, and 4 AP (with aim) to get 2 shots, and deal about 6 damage a shot... if I am facing a Drone or a Corp Soldier with 6+ HP, I always switch to my machine gun and pay the extra AP to make sure that I put them in the grave.

I think that they are saying each AP is one shot fired. Machine guns is not an accuracy weapon. Your goal is to fire as many shots as you can to hit someone. What is the chance that 2 AP, or 2 machine gun shots, will hit a target?

james123 - I can see the request for lower AP machine guns, but I don't think it works with how Cyber Knights thinks of AP = shooting a gun. When you shoot a gun, you pay a full AP cost for the entire volley of bullets. Based on the type of weapon, that volley may be short (sniper rifle, heavy pistol) or long (machine gun). Therefore, you pay more AP for longer volleys which may do much higher damage (with the MG my character is using, I could so 20 HP damage in a single fire, 4-5 shots). Does that help?

AP is actually relative to the recoil and operational difficulty of the weapon. The ratio of AP to Weapon Speed determines rate of fire

james123 - you pay AP once at the start. If you hit and keeping hitting "Fire (0)" with your MG, then yes, you get a lot more 0 AP shots with the gun. My Heavy Pistol at max gets 1 combo-shot for 0 AP if I even get lucky.

I'd like to clarify this post. If you have a high firearms skill and tons of auto ammo, it is possible to do insane burst damage to opponents when using sub machine guns and machine guns? Can you burst up to 20+ damage per target and can you damage multiple targets? I'm sorry if I'm asking questions that might be obvious, but I'm new plus I only use Raptor II pistols to knock out peeps

@nemisis - currently, all targeting is against a single enemy. So, you can deal a huge amount of damage to a single target, or help yourself gaurantee a significant amount of damage.
My current CK is not that amazing with Firearms (he is a jack of many trades) ... but if I sink the 5 AP to fire a big MG, i get lots of shots (4-5). So, I can almost always get 8-12 damage in a single major burst, which is enough to silence most drones and corp soldiers. However... its the only thing I get to do for the turn!

I did some tests -- altho there are no monsters with that much HP, a high skill Knight can do upwards of 20 damage with a single attack and a high rate of fire weapon.
With 16 AP you can fire a machine gun 3 times -- so maybe 60 damage per turn
