This may already be listed somewhere, but I love the game, and I love even more to be able to capture and tow a ship to a dry dock somewhere. And on that note, why only one ship in dry dock at a time?

you can have as many in the dry dock as you'd like, up to the game edition maximum.
Elite just allows you to store more ships globally. as far as I know there is no limited to an individual dry dock itself.

any planet where you are a military official allows dry dock.
any independent planet that is not rumor-locked or otherwise infected with a stardock disabling routine also allows dry dock.
the captain can stash ships all over the universe. once the edition defined ship max is reached, the "purchase" button will vanish.
the "purchase" button will appear on any ship screen.
----------
this is how a military official in star traders does his business.
1. Take current ship, Dry Dock using "Purchase" of Military Shuttle. 2. Purchase key choice upgrades (few for save money) of Military Shuttle. 3. Go out and capture a new ship, leaving the Military Shuttle to drift 4. Return to Dry Dock, Dry Dock new ship and purchase Military Shuttle 5. Repeat until Dry Dock is full =)

Yeah totally agree with that strategy, just one tip, dont try to capture the top ships with a crappy shuttle, specially if the other captain is of similar level. Even if you never lose a battle, remember shit happens, and it just takes one defeat to get killed. I lost my lvl 24 bounty hunter this way, it hurts

If you're a military officer, you ought to be able to reflag captured ships at a military base. Maybe you need a certain rank to do it.
I feel like a tool flying around in a Steel Song Terror Ship when everybody except the Steel Song loves me. Man, I put 50 extra beds, two sets of crazy engines, a thick layer of armor, and a bunch of extra torpedo tubes on this thing, but nobody will repaint the hull!

Maybe you could salvage the guns and torps to rearm your ship or sell at the exchange if it were an item to sell hint hint.
