A Newbie's Desires

Heya. I'm still a rather newbish player (regularly asking myself how people can possibly afford to buy ships, etc). Please forgive me if I bring up things already addressed or that I misunderstand- I'm still learning.

Where am I going?
I'd love it if I could have a 'go to waypoint' button on the map. I regularly get lost looking for a point more than about 6 AU away from my location, and the arrow really only gives a general idea of it. If not that, then perhaps on the zoomed map it could do a little shiny thing showing your currently marked waypoint?

Um, where am I again?
On the status tab, I'd really like it if Galaxy (where it currently shows the ship's name and faction) showed which faction controls the part of space you're currently in, and maybe even how much they want to see you killt.

Wait, which one had better sails?
When in a position to buy or 'acquire' a new ship, it'd be nice to be able to see the stats of each side by side. I don't retain numbers well, and it ends up meaning that I go back and forth between status and the new ship's stats quite a bit.
EDIT: Forgot that this already happens with buying a new ship.

If you didn't want me to have them, you should've used them.
Pirates can take my guns and torps. I'd like it if I could take theirs.

Ooooh, what's that thing?
Not too long ago the Boarding upgrades were modified to have new and varied effects. They also no longer give me even the slightest clue as to what they do. I know the guide is more than happy to explain it, but that doesn't stop me from totally forgetting all of that when I get back to the game, and subsequently having to rely on the 'this one is further down the list and more expensive' method.

It makes me sad when my brand new Nano-Solar Sail Coating or Battle Prow gets attached to my ship without the benefit of being fully functional. I could see why something like this would be there for balance reasons, but it still makes me shed a manly tear or two.

And I believe that pretty much covers it. I hope this doesn't come off as one giant bawfest. Even if none of these things change, I'd still play it all through the time I'm supposed to be working. This game is really fun, and coupled with the fact that its stable and doesn't demand money or access to all of my phone's features so that it can serve ads, it is by far the best game on the android.

I would really like to see something like the "go to waypoint" button. That's probably my biggest wish right now.

There is another post buried somewhere which says in testing Cory has a navigation plot that will highlight a recommended path on the movement map. He had a good name for it but I've forgotten it. I would figure your wish will be granted soon.

Maybe just trace out the path to the waypoint in another color dot if a waypoint is set but you're not rolling yet?

I am working on this. Should be soon, hard to make it work and I'm very dedicated about supporting all the different phones with no crashes.

I would second all your suggestions too, all great ideas.

-Especially waypointing, the AI gives precedence to traveling on safe green dots - often at the cost of traveling next to a sun and damaging your sails. I wish there were an option to make it travel in a straight line.

-Also an option to change measurements of time and distance from the meaningless Star-Trekky ones they are now, into Earth time and distance. Same with currency - dollars ? It needs a unique currency without the USA overtones.
And only 300 of these 'dollars' for an entire Shuttle Craft ? Wow ! Great value !

-Also, when you add a new contract, it overrides your current one, and you have to go back and change it.

-Also. A ship never seems to show it's House alliance until AFTER you have beaten them in battle. This makes it impossible to maintain good relations with whomever you choose. I went from 'Honored' something or other to 'Terrorist' in a single short space jaunt.

-Also, there should be an option where you can BUY a pardon ALL the time. The game punishes a player who wants to play offensively because of the above reason. I am fed up with trekking around the Galaxy just to scrounge enough fuel to make it to the next planet that just might let me buy some.

-If that's not feasible, then Pirate Planets, with no allegiance, who will sell anything to anyone.

-Also, the upgrades system is not very fair. All these things only unlocked if you reach a certain level. If I have the cash then I want them now, not be forced to alter my gameplay to run missions for the military just to suit the game mechanic.

-The Alliances/Conflicts screen changes so often that I never bother to read it, even though it is the most important screen in the game.
I have no idea of the relationship between Houses and Syndicates, it is all nonsense to me, there are just too many of them. There needs to be a better way to keep track of who is at war with who.
And an Alliance should not affect your relationships with your friends. If I attack my enemy, whose House (as stated before, unknown to the player before battle because the game hides it) is allied to my friends, then I should not lose favour because of it.

- You must be able to fire Officers. I am the Captain. If I want to replace them with a better Officer then I should be able too.
Also I should be able to negotiate their percentage and sign on fees.

Just been playing a bit more....

Most annoying of all are random tick turd space craft that challenge you to fights when you are trying to travel, even though they are laughably outgunned in every sense.

I wish you would make it so that only comparable craft can challenge you in this way.

I hate that my Battleship is constantly challenged by Shuttle Craft or Space Trucks.


And, when accepting contracts to go to another planet's city, to a specific location - eg A Space dock - the game should tell you what your rep is with said planet before you click on Accept. I'm fed up with trekking 46U to find out that the Space dock is closed to me and having to 'void' the contract.

If you want to travel on a dangerous course in a straight line, just go one square at a time through radiation storms and red squares.

You can't buy a pardon all the time because sometimes your blood is worth more to a faction than your cash. They'd rather give cash to a bounty hunter to stop you from wrecking their ships.

There are 'Pirate Planets' already. They're called Independents and I'm pretty sure you can be hated by every faction and still visit those planets safely. If you're a wanted criminal, you've got to live on the rim and stay away from the core.

You can get any upgrade if you've got one level of military rank with that faction. If you've been shooting up my merchant fleet, why would I sell you a 16 tube torpedo system?

I'd like to see more detail in the conflict change toast, too. It is annoying to have to go to the conflict screens when a vague toast pops just before I go to an exchange. If it's an embargo or spy war affecting the faction I'm dealing with, I want to know. If some other guys started a war of assassins, I don't need to know before I sell off a load of artifacts or buy fuel.

You can fire officers. I'm not sure why you can't do it on a planet, but you can fire them in deep space or in orbit. That does seem counter-intuitive (or at least rather mean).

You don't have to fight everyone. You can 'acknowledge' most friendly craft. Get good reps with all 6 factions and you only have to fight independent pirates and aliens.

Keeping track of the political situation and your reputation is a huge part of this game. Maybe this game is too complex for you?

Yup. Pretty much what he said. Most of the stuff you were complaining about is not a bug or problem, you just haven't figured it out yet. Try playing on an easier difficulty and checking into EVERY detail of the game on a few different characters. Its how I had to play until just recently. I'm now getting the games grasp well enough to venture into the demanding difficulty. Really fun btw!
