When I saw ST:Mini that was for "G1" players I downloaded it and I am really enjoying what apparently from posts on the board is a very small chunk of the game. I was wondering though if anyone has put the Elite version on their G1 and how it plays. I'd be willing to clear out a chunk for the extra file-size if it still runs as smoothly as the mini.

ozmer - from the feedback I have heard, it runs fine. We released the Mini from feedback that as the Star Traders code base grew, some users on smaller phones (who were capable of running the game) wanted a smaller package. And so, in our Trese Brothers style, we provided! It should run just as smooth, and if not, there are a ton of options that can be turned off to skinny down the application until it will run smoothly.

mini also takes many hours of work to build and optimize so it is released at the major releases -- 2.0, 3.0, 4.0
Elite can run on the G1. Best performance achieved via Options: No Music, No Sound, No Backgrounds, No Animation, No Follow and leave on all the confirmation to exit dialogs.

Thanks for the reply, and the warm welcome. I think my 11mb facebook widget may be biting the dust tonight so I can go elite. :-)

Niiice. I would delete my contact book to go elite, if I had to do so again. And your welcome.

Figured I would confirm - Elite runs great even on my ancient G1. I had all the options on too for over an hour, only slightly increased battery drain and a little extra heat vs. mini, but I muted/disabled a couple things just to conserve.

It certainly has been an interesting challenge to build a CPU intensive economic/space politics simulator AND support a huge array of device profiles.
From the G1 to the quad core tablet, ST Elite should run fine. The game makes some sacrifices at the very high and very low end, but that is technical compromise and unavoidable (by everyone but sales.)
